Amy and Bobby had a beautiful ceremony at the Temple of Peace followed by a relaxed reception in the hall. It must be one of Cardiff’s most beautiful locations. The low Autumn light was our best friend as well 🍂✨
What a gorgeous pair they are! Happy 10 year anniversary as well!

Can discussion help create a fairer and more peaceful world? In the years immediately following WWII, a group of artists, writers and educators thought so.

In September historian Emma West and illustrator Anna Bhushan ran a one-day pilot workshop at the Temple of Peace as part of a Designs for Discussion project that explores and re-imagines the post-war Map Review archive.

From 1946-1951 the Bureau of Current Affairs (BCA) published a fortnightly poster, Map Review, and a periodical, Current Affairs, designed to promote citizenship and stimulate discussion in the postwar world. Beautifully designed and illustrated, the posters and pamphlets covered economic, political, social and cultural issues, from Indian Partition to an ageing population. Over 7 million copies were sold for use by discussion groups in workplaces and community settings; alongside the welfare state, NHS and New Towns, BCA publications were part of postwar efforts to remake society. Until the recent discovery of a BCA collection at Cardiff’s Temple of Peace, however, the Bureau had been largely forgotten.

This workshop brought together researchers, creatives, students, graduates and community participants to map initial responses to the BCA archive and to discuss how re-imagined Map Reviews might facilitate constructive civil discourse in 21st Century Britain. Here are some images from the day.

A Temple Tour with a twist!
Join us this Halloween for a theatrical ghost tour at the Temple of Peace 👻

In 1938, Minnie James led grief-stricken mothers, who lost their sons to war, in opening Wales’ Temple of Peace. Explore the Peace Building with our trusty Tour Guide... and maybe a few others. Venture to the Crypt and hear the stories of those gone... but not forgotten.

31st October, tours at 7pm and 9pm. Buy tickets at the link in our bio - bit.ly/templeghosttour
