Jimpy heads into 2027 with serious momentum across DJing and production. Recent bookings include Cream Cardiff alongside Judge Jules, Tall Paul and Rob Tissera, followed by supporting Fat Tony at Tramshed Cardiff in December. Bookings are already being taken for 2027.
In the studio, Jimpy’s collaborative album with acclaimed producer Aubrey Fry — whose released music on Bedrock, Last Night On Earth, Mango Alley, Stripped Recordings and more — is now complete. News of the incredible label signing the album will follow shortly, alongside a forthcoming Aubrey Fry & Jimpy single on one of the world’s leading progressive house labels and much more new music.
Whilst trance has played a huge part in Jimpy’s musical life, his first love is house music, particularly progressive house. His own sound sits towards the progressive/trance spectrum while drawing influences from techno, trance, deep house, progressive and house. The result is music that often crosses genre boundaries, bringing together deeper grooves, hypnotic elements, progressive movement and the emotion and energy of trance.
That breadth also defines Jimpy as a DJ. More than three decades behind the decks means he is equally comfortable playing house, warming up for a techno artist, setting the scene for a progressive DJ or closing the night. He understands that supporting another artist means reading the room, respecting the musical journey and complementing the headliner without losing his own identity.
Jimpy’s story began in 1993 as an original resident DJ at Cardiff’s legendary Hippo Club, playing alongside Sasha, Derrick May, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, Sven Väth, Sister Bliss (Faithless), John Kelly and Laurent Garnier.
His career subsequently took him across Europe, Asia and North America. He finished 2nd in the UK Ministry of Sound Mixing Championship in 1997 and was ranked #54 in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs in 2000. He featured regularly in the UK dance press, including Mixmag and DJ Magazine, and produced cover CDs for M8 Magazine and Max Power.
Jimpy also launched the Enter the Dragon and ROAR events and played for major club brands including Cream, Renaissance, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky, Back to Basics and Miss Moneypenny’s.
His production history includes “Talkin’”, featured on Sasha’s Global Underground 013: Ibiza, Paul van Dyk’s The Politics of Dancing and Hernan Cattaneo’s Clubland.
After several years away from music, Jimpy returned with underground Cardiff party Cellar Door and, in 2023, a sold-out Enter the Dragon reunion attended by more than 1,000 clubbers. Subsequent events have featured Ferry Corsten, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Mauro Picotto, Factor B, Nifra, Ruben de Ronde and more.
Recent productions “Real DJs” and the “Axis EP” on Rhythm Cult received support from Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa, Just Her, Danny Howells, Laurent Garnier and many others. His remix of “Supersonic Velvet” on Stripped Recordings reached #4 on Beatport’s Progressive House chart.
From vinyl to a new generation of progressive electronic music, the journey continues.
