K I R S T Y 🌸
I thought I would share my own glam for a change.
One of my most frequently asked questions as a makeup artist, is do I experiment with my own make-up? Try new trends, play around with colour or sit creating new looks on myself? And the answer to that is essentially no. Besides the obvious thing, which is having time to experiment, after 25 years of experimenting on my own face, it boils down to a few things.
Don’t get me wrong - I am a makeup addict. I am obsessed with buying new products. Now that may sound like I like to experiment, and I do, with new formulas, but essentially I own 37 blushers, 128 lip products, 12 bronzers, too many eye shadow palettes to count and way too many highlighters than considered average - but the special thing about all of these is that they are all pretty much the same tone. 🫣 They may vary in texture and finish, but they are all varying degrees of the same colour. Because the thing is, I’m also a creature of habit, and I’ve spent the last 25 years trying to perfect my daily make-up, and finding the exact products I deem perfect for that outcome. Mixing and blending within those tones, to create a custom blush or lip colour that matches my outfit perfectly is a game for me, and part of being artist that I really love.
I learned a long time ago what suits me and what I love, and well there’s something quite nice, about re-creating the same make-up for 25 years but each time trying to improve on the last one, all while fighting the ageing process that throws us a few curve balls each time!
What are some of your favourite ride or die products? I’d love to know! 🩷
