With our last event for the summer taking place in Cardiff Bay over the August Bank Holiday our focus will be 100% on the Cardiff Christmas Market. We have been overwhelmed with applications since February and are pleased to report that the majority of our stalls are now full. If you don’t know too much about us, we have Taster and Non-Taster stalls. Our Non-Taster stalls are located in St John Street, Working Street, the Hayes and Hills Street and are usually filled by makers who have already established themselves in the marketplace and have taken part with us for a few years. Through their recommendations we have also received applications from makers who, whilst established, are new to our event.
Our Taster stalls, located in Trinity Street, are designed for new, up and coming makers as we recognised that having the courage to sell your work to customers, other than friends and family, can be very daunting and additional encouragement and support is sometimes needed. As our City Centre events developed, we noticed that we were only receiving applications from a small number of new crafts people. Part of our success across our events is how fresh and vibrant they are, so we decided to do something to encourage more exhibitors to take part with us. We decided to locate our taster stalls in Trinity Street. Whilst this area is very much part of the Christmas Market it can attract less footfall than our non-taster locations of St John Street, Working Street and Hills Street, hence the greatly reduced stall rentals.
