A true celebration of a wonderful life 💙

29/04/2026

Grief is where my work begins.

I meet people at the very first stage of their grief process. Often in shock. Often still trying to make sense of what has happened. For some, this is the first person they have ever lost, and the ground beneath them feels unfamiliar and unsteady.

There is a quiet expectation many carry that in time it will get better. That the pain will fade away. But grief does not work like that.

It does not disappear.

It becomes less raw. Less sharp. It softens at the edges, but it stays.

Time moves on, and life grows around the loss, but the love remains. And because the love remains, so does the grief.

Time heals many things, but not grief.

Grief is not something to fix. It is something to carry. And in those early days, when it feels too heavy, that is where I come in. To hold space. To listen. To help tell the story of a life that mattered.

Because even in the depth of loss, there is always love.

Today I led a service at Stafford Crematorium for a 66 year old man, gone far too soon.

The chapel was packed to the rafters, with people also gathered in the foyer, a powerful reflection of how loved he was and the life he lived.

In the midst of her grief, his adoring wife presented me with two beautifully engraved pens as a gift. I was completely taken aback.

Moments like this remind me what a privilege it is to do what I do. Truly humbling.

Today I received the most touching message from a family I recently supported, and I feel truly humbled.

Their loved one was a proud, staunch miner, and it was so important to reflect that in his service. I was able to source a beautiful miner’s lamp, which we lit on his coffin during the ceremony. It was a simple but powerful tribute, full of meaning and respect for a life of hard work, strength and community.

The chapel was filled to capacity, a true testament to the impact he had on so many lives. It was not only a farewell, but a celebration of a life well lived.

Messages like this remind me what a privilege it is to stand alongside families at such important moments. To be trusted with their stories and to help create something so personal is something I never take for granted.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special farewell.

Today was a reminder that every farewell can be as unique as the life it celebrates 💛

At a family’s request, I found myself leading The Music Man at the end of the service, complete with all the actions bringing smiles laughter and a real sense of togetherness to the service. Everyone joined in.

One gentleman said to me afterwards that it was the first time in his life he’d ever left a funeral smiling. That meant everything.

Being a celebrant is about listening adapting and creating moments that truly reflect the person at the heart of the service whether that’s quiet reflection shared tears or even a little bit of joyful singing.

Today I had the privilege of conducting the Mother’s Day Remembrance Service at Lichfield and District Crematorium.

I was truly honoured to be asked to lead this special service. It was a time to remember and recognise all the wonderful mums, mother figures, step mums, grandmothers and carers who have shaped our lives with love.

For many, today is a day of gratitude and celebration, but it can also be a tender day for those whose mums or special mother figures are no longer with us. It was a privilege to hold space for remembrance, reflection and love for them today.

Thinking of everyone who is missing someone special this Mother’s Day..

As we step into a new year I want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to every family and couple who trusted me to stand beside them during some of life’s most meaningful moments. It is a privilege I never take lightly.

The past year has been filled with love remembrance laughter and reflection. From weddings full of joy to funerals held with care and compassion each service has been a reminder of how important it is to honour every story in a way that feels right for you.

As we welcome the year ahead my wish is for kindness connection and hope. Whatever this new year brings may it be met with understanding warmth and the comfort of knowing your service will always be your service your way.

Wishing you peace love and a gentle start to the year ahead
