QAF PRESENTS ‘INFRATHIN: TRACES OF PRESENCE’

Coined by Marcel Duchamp, ‘Infrathin’ is a concept used to capture subtle nuances that although difficult to describe, are perceptible at a sensory level. Infrathin encapsulates those almost invisible daily occurrences; drawings in steam on a shower door, the warmth of a just-abandoned seat, a sense of someone’s presence, condensation on a wintery night, the sillage of a subtle perfume - in other words, the felt traces of human presence.

How might an awareness of Infrathin reconfigure the way we navigate our lives, relationships, and corporeality? How might infrathin speak to the nature of artistic creation?

Queens’ Arts Festival invites artists of Cambridge and beyond to submit artwork in response to the theme ‘Infrathin’ for their 2026 Lent term exhibition. SUBMISSION LINK IN BIO!!!!!!!!

At last - the event of the term - QAF ‘LOST PROPERTY’ EXHIBITION LAUNCH PARTY!!!!! 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻

QAF is delighted to invite you to our private view to celebrate the launch of our 2025 exhibition, ‘LOST PROPERTY’. Not only will this be a great chance to meet artists, celebrate the art on display, and socialise, but we are also very excited to be collaborating with several Cambridge-based zines to offer a selection of local, creative zine work for you to peruse and purchase.

With complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, food, and excellent music for a lil boogie - it’s promising to be a super fun night. Spread the word - it’s gonna be sick. Lots of love, and see you there,

QAF

Last but certainly not least, the final of our additional events for Exhibition Week is a panel discussion with some of Cambridge’s finest curators; Andrew Nairne (Kettle’s Yard), Helen Ritchie (Fitzwilliam Museum) and Annabelle Campbell (David Parr house).

Hosted by the wonderful Catalina Salter-Martin (QAF president) and Eva Weinstein (QAF vice president), the panel will discuss curation, the differences between ‘house museums’ and institutional museums, their respective careers, and their thoughts on ‘Lost Property’.

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to host this discussion - so please do come along to the Angevin Room at Queens’, at 15:30 on 14/03/25 for a chance to hear from some of the finest local curators.

Once again, we ask that you would kindly RSVP via link in bio due to availability…and keep your eyes peeled - further information about the main event - the exhibition launch night - will be coming soon!

Creatives of Cambridge! As Exhibition week draws near, we are delighted to share some more information with you about the events we have in store.

Kicking the week off with a collaboration with , undergraduate art-historians Bella Roskill (QAF) and Rosy Akalwau-Ellman (Fitzwilliam Museum Society) will be interviewing 2023 Turner Prize winning artist Jesse Darling. Darling’s work, in the words of the Tate, “reflects the vulnerability of the human body, and expresses the desire to resist the constraints imposed on our lives by social and political forces”.

The event promises a relaxed discussion of Darling’s work and career, interpolating themes of Lost Property, sainthood, sculpture, and Britishness for your brains to feast on.

So tell your friends - and join us at 19:30 in the Erasmus Room, in Queens’, on 10/03/25. We ask that you please note that availability is limited due to seating capacity - so please RSVP following the link in our bio if you wish to attend.
