Surfacing every 5-15 minutes for a few seconds to breathe, they were quite difficult to capture, but when they did, they often created some interesting pre-surface water bubbles!

It was a pretty amazing experience having this huge Loggerhead Turtle breach just feet away from me.

If you swipe back you can watch him clear his nose as he surfaces!

Loggerhead turtles are a vulnerable species. Large specimens come in around 200kg, with the largest recorded being 545kg (over half a ton).

The Dalyan River estuary, a brackish water system connecting Köycegiz Lake to the Mediterranean Sea, forms part of a Specially Protected Area (SPA) for them and other wildlife.
