Repurposing your flowers and other decor.

One piece of advice I would give to most couples is to repurpose the flowers and any other decor you have from your ceremony (whether this is at the church or the same venue) to make use else where.

This is a great way of using your flowers and any other decor in spaces that you may feel will need it at a later stage.

It’s a more sustainable use for any flowers and foliage from your ceremony.

Speak to your florist on the best way to repurpose any flowers that you may have for your wedding.

These cute foliage wreaths as well as other flowers were first used for the ceremony and then were reused for the marquee and other spaces at the venue later.

Wedding stationery…

I love wedding stationery and you can get creative with your stationery and what you choose to do. I generally recommend that you work with a professional designer. I think that you can always achieve fantastic results of you do.

However you can design something yourself and then have it printed. The choice is really yours.

So what types of stationery would you regularly see at a wedding?

1. Welcome sign

2. Seating chart

3. Place names

4. Menus (I would recommend individual ones, they give a lovely personal touch)

5. Order of service

6. Bathroom signs (i.e. where they are if they are not easy to find)

Canapés…
Do you think canapés are right for your wedding?

Personally yes I would recommend that you have some canapés circulating as this does give your guests something to eat during your drinks reception.

But I would chat to your catering company and see what your options are and what would suit the style of wedding you are going for. Your catering company will have the best experience and know how best to work with what style of wedding you are looking for and also what will work with your budget.

Sometimes the weather doesn’t go to plan…

But that doesn’t mean that your wedding ceremony can’t can’t be spectacular! This absolutely gorgeous wedding ceremony was in fact plan B in terms of the location due to the rain.

Sometimes thinking outside the box is what you need…

Choosing Your Wedding Cake…

I. Find a cake maker that you connect with. If your cake maker can't understand your vision then it is unlikely that the process will go smoothly. A cake maker that you can connect with and who can understand your vision will be a dream to work with.

2. Think very carefully about the season you are getting married in and whether you style of cake will work well in hot weather or humid weather. Chat to your cake maker about what your options are.

3. Your ideal if you are wanting flowers in your cake is for your cake maker and your florist to be able to work together. Some cake makers work really well with local florists and you will find that your vision will come together if they work together.

4. Think about your guest numbers and what sized cake will work best. Your cake maker will advise you on the best size, but keep in mind that you want to make sure you have enough cake for everyone, as well as not everyone will want to have cake (those that don't have a sweet tooth).

5. Think about whether you want your caterers to cut up all the cake or whether you want them to start with the top tier see how it goes and then if they need to cut up more and keep the rest for you to be able to take home. You don't necessarily want it all cut up and then what is left over to be left lying around getting dry and inedible.

Choosing Your Wedding Venue…

1. Choose a location suitable to what your vision is. If you are looking for a country wedding set in beautiful grounds with an outdoor ceremony and space for a marquee, your search will then want to be looking in areas such as Norfolk or Suffolk for country venues with plenty of outdoor space.

2. Think about whether you need accommodation for your guests and if this is available at the venue you are looking for.

3. If you are wanting an outdoor legal ceremony you will need to check whether your venue is licensed for a legal ceremony and whether you need a DUO license.

4. Make sure you know all possible hidden costs that you might not know about. This includes possible damage deposits etc.

5. You should definitely think about viewing your venue. The best way for you to get a full feel for your venue and if it is ideal for your vision.

Hi all, I’m Cathryn and I am the owner of Cathryn Emma Weddings

Since it has been a while since I last introduced myself I thought I would pop on here to tell you a little about me.

✨ I recently got engaged and am starting to plan my own wedding…

✨I started in events by working for a lovely high end catering company in Cape Town South Africa. So I am very well versed in catering for weddings.

✨ Weddings have been a passion of mine for the last 5 years. I love a wedding ceremony. I always get very soppy whilst watching them.

✨ My favourite ceremony moment is when the couple say their vows to each other and they make their promises to each other.

✨ I love seeing how each individual couple chooses how their day will look as well as I always keenly like to see what food menus they choose.

I would love to hear what your favourite wedding moment is in the comments below 👇🏼

Getting Married In The Heat.

If you are getting married this weekend during this
heatwave, here are my top tips to stay cool during your wedding day.

☀️Have fresh water available from the very beginningwhen guests arrive right up until the end of the day. You can either do this in bottles or have big jugs of water, add some ice and some cucumber to make it more refreshing

☀️Provide your guests with hand fans to help cool
themselves down (especially if you have no breeze)

☀️Provide shading for your guests either with a couple of big umbrellas or individual ones (avoid black ones and try for white as this reflects the light better)

☀️Encourage guests to take their hot jackets off and remove ties if necessarv.

☀️Have plenty of soft drinks available

☀️Try to get plenty of ventilation by opening any windows or flaps of marquee tents etc.

I hope these tips help you stay cool during this heat wave.
