'Now I want you to cut once more... but I want you to wait until I've turned my back and can's see.' The lady is Trish's sister, Val, who's arrived from Canada,. asking especially to see some magic. On the 5th of last month, I did a few magic tricks at The Friends Rock Road Library's Christmas Party, It was opened in the 1930s and is still going strong, with talks, concerts, social events for adults and children, as well as being open as a fine facility for everyone around, supported by both the Friends - a truly vibrant organisation - and Cambridge City. Here is an early Pye television set, using a cathode ray tube and, of course, monochrome and a tiny screen. My parents had one of the first in our area. We watched the Queen's Coronation on it. Plus Mr Pastry, Andy Pandy, What's my Line. football, etc.
On Monday 1st December, last year, The Pye Association -previous and retired Pye employees - invited me to do my magic. They were as lovely an audience as were their televisions. And they were in colour (and larger).
