Today is our 7th Anniversary. At 12pm on 2nd September 2019 we took over the business, that same day welcoming guests to Plas Dinas Country House.
Over the last 7 years we have transformed the beautiful country house, alongside our team to create the beautiful, historic Welsh country house and foodie destination that you see today. It has not been a smooth ride and let's be honest, times are still incredibly tough, but there are not many companies in the UK or indeed the World that didn't suffer as a result of the many situations that the world has faced during those 7 years and are indeed still facing. There are so many things we want to do, to achieve, to develop here and love Plas Dinas Country House as much as we did when we first visited.
We have made many wonderful memories here and formed so many friendships with our guests.
We chose to use the time during the covid closures to get to know the story of the Armstrong-Jones family and indeed Lord Snowdon and HRH Princess Margaret and we are honest in the fact we wouldn't be what we are today without this time to really get to know the building. The family have been so incredibly loving and supportive since we purchased the business, and their time has resulted in much more detailed knowledge and understanding to not just create rooms, but to really bring to life the person they represent and how the house was indeed used.
We now have 11 individually designed bedrooms, upgraded public areas and have developed the gardens that features the most beautiful pagoda and small vineyard.
We have also been lucky enough to work on so many wonderful weddings and events over the last 7 years, making memories with couples from all over the world and have a wonderful wedding this weekend to look forward too. Each wedding individually designed to tell their own story just like our hotel designs.
We live and love our beautiful country house and day to day are so busy that you rarely get the opportunity to reflect. As we approached our 7th Anniversary it has certainly been a time to take in just what we have managed to achieve over the last few years. We could not have done this without the incredible team that we have the pleasure of working with, side by side, our Plas Dinas family or you our guests, new friends and the local community who have been so incredible.
Looking back at just a few of our highlights:
⭐We were awarded The Good Hotel Guide Cesar Award for Best Hotel in Wales 2026
⭐We retained our 5* AA status and multiple rosettes
⭐We were awarded AA Restaurant With Rooms of the Year in Wales 2025
⭐ Winner of The North Wales Tourism Hotel of the Year for 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 and Best Place To Eat 2024 at the Go North Wales Tourism Awards. The North Wales Tourism Awards will always mean a great deal to us and in fact Annie is now an advisor to the board of directors.
⭐Visit Wales Best Hotel and Best Place to Eat in Wales 2025
⭐We redesigned Sir Robert Armstrong-Jones bedroom and Lady Armstrong-Jones's bathroom, bringing together another love story once again.
⭐We were added the Condé Nast Johansens Global Collection of Luxury Hotels, Venues and Spas and went on to be awarded Best for Romance in the UK 2025
⭐We designed and hosted many wonderful wedding and events.
⭐We have the largest known Welsh w**e collection and were awarded the prestigious Notable W**e List Award for Wales 2024 by AA Hospitality and have retained our notable status .
⭐We supported Head Chef Daniel ap Geraint on his Great British Menu journey where he won the Wales week 2025 and went on to achieve 2nd in the finals for starter and joint 3rd on mains.
⭐ We planted the start of our vineyard with the support of Gwinllan Conwy and continued the development of our kitchen garden to support sustainability.
⭐We were added to The Times Top 100 Places to Stay 2025 list.
⭐I think the biggest thing, and something we are so incredibly proud of is being added to the MICHELIN Guide in April 2022 and since retaining our space to this day. Our team work so incredibly hard and we are proud of each and every one of them. The progress in the kitchen is remarkable. It is an exciting period for the Gunroom Restaurant and we cannot wait to see the progress over the next 12 months.
To be listed in the monthly MICHELIN Guide Newsletter as one of the top 5 new additions in April 2022 was a moment we will never forget but the progress since is truly remarkable. Our team of chefs are ambitious, creative and determined to deliver exceptional dining. A team that are pushing and pushing each month to create the most wonderful menus for our guests. We welcomed Kane to our team in April 2025, the magic that comes from the whole kitchen is amazing, the team are so driven and determined. We wish the team all the best with their MICHELIN and rosette aspirations. We will do all we can to support you.
