🌿 Meet the Toughest Plant in the Conservatory! 🌿

Next time you are wandering through our conservatory, keep an eye out for this magnificent leafy green beauty.

This is the Aspidistra, though you might know it by its famous nickname: the "Cast-Iron Plant." 📖 A Little History:
The Aspidistra earned its tough-as-nails reputation during the Victorian era. In the 19th century, indoor environments were notoriously harsh—homes were often filled with poor lighting, drafts, temperature drops, and the toxic fumes of coal fires and gas lamps. While most delicate houseplants withered and died, the incredibly resilient Aspidistra thrived in the gloom. It became a massive status symbol and a staple of the classic Victorian parlour!

Because they are notoriously slow growers, an Aspidistra doesn't reach this kind of impressive size overnight. We want to test your plant intuition...

🐾 Look who popped in to say hello! 🐾

Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the gorgeous Jeeves & Jssie! 😍 They were on a very important, highly classified mission: sniffing out all the delicious doggy treats we have stocked up in our retail outlet. (Spoiler alert: we think the treats got a 10/10 paw rating! 🦴)

With the weather being as unpredictable as ever, we wanted to send out a quick reminder to all our dog-loving friends:

The Conservatory at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton was built in 1870–1871. It was designed by renowned landscape architect Edward Milner in the style of London's Crystal Palace, featuring a structure of cast iron and glass.
The Conservatory is a Grade II listed building with a few key historical milestones:
1871: The Pavilion Gardens officially opened, with the Conservatory acting as a small concert hall.
1903: A single-story stone porch and a new North entrance were added.
1982: The space was remodeled into its current layout, functioning as a greenhouse with tropical plants and a fish pond.
