What a day at Roe Valley Resort.

The team put on such a fabulous display and you could see just how much work had gone into every little detail.

But for me, days like this are really about the people.

I looked around today and realised that so many of the suppliers there are people I now consider friends. So yes, I get to meet lots of lovely couples planning their weddings, but I also get to catch up with people I genuinely love working with, have a laugh and enjoy the day.

It really does make you stop and think how lucky you are to do a job where so much of it is actually great fun.

Such a brilliant day with a brilliant bunch of people.

One thing over 20 years in hospitality and around 2,000 weddings has taught me is that weddings very rarely run exactly as planned.

The weather changes.
Timings move.
Someone is late.
Something takes a little longer than expected.

And usually, none of it matters.

Because once the day arrives, you are surrounded by your people, the music starts, the adrenaline kicks in and you are getting married.

That is the bit you remember.

I think all those years working in weddings are probably why I am so calm about the little things now.

I will arrive early, check everything is where it needs to be, speak to the people I need to speak to and deal with whatever wee curveballs come our way.

You should not be worrying about any of that.

You should be enjoying every minute of it.

Rain and all.

I have got you.

More than 110 ceremonies in my first twelve months as a celebrant have taught me a lot.

Hospitality taught me how to handle people, pressure and the unexpected.

Celebrancy taught me to slow down, listen properly and give people the right information at the right time.

The biggest lesson?

**It is not about me. My job is to serve them.**

I have written a little more about the journey here

A little over a year ago, I was driving to one of my first ceremonies when the phone rang.“Could we change the music?”“Of course. No problem.”And genuinely, it was no problem. After more than twenty years working in hospitality and hotel management, last minute changes do not particularly faz...

There is just something about Fermanagh.

The lakes, the scenery, the peace of it all. It really does make the most beautiful backdrop for a wedding.

I have had the pleasure of conducting ceremonies at both the Killyhevlin and L***y Beg, and they each have their own feel, but both give you that gorgeous waterside setting that is very hard to beat.

And then add live music into the mix and it just lifts the whole atmosphere.

There is nothing quite like hearing musicians play as guests are arriving, during the ceremony, or as the couple make their way back up the aisle.

Beautiful venues, beautiful surroundings and a very lovely part of the country to get married in.
