📗 MY GREEN BOOK 📗
This is my song book for Melodies & Memories, my musical bible if you will 🤓 Inside are hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of songs I have used/ am going to use for our syllabus 🎵
In this book are songs chosen after hours of conversations with my mum, dad, step mum, friends…. Little did I know that asking about certain popular songs from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s would trigger specific memories and special stories of times gone by 💭
Memories like dancing on my dad’s feet as a little girl when my mum was at secretarial college in an evening (‘My Girl’ by The Temptations), songs my grandad would include in his repertoire as a professional singer around Liverpool (‘It’s Impossible’ by Perry Como), stories of my nanna and Bob (he was our grandpa but he just wanted to be called Bob 😂) making my mum, aunty, and uncle all sit and listen to a radio show called ‘Sing Something Simple’ on Sunday evenings (where songs like ‘Underneath the Arches’ by Billy Ternent Band would feature), and my friends sharing their grandparents favourite songs (‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong) 💫
At the time of gathering all these songs, I was caught up in the fun, creative process of setting up my business. Little did I know that I was also creating a book of precious memories that will remain for me to look back on for years to come.
Whether a song makes you laugh, cry, smile, long for someone, be transported back to happier times, or warms your heart with gratitude… the power of music is undeniable 💚
