On 21st June, John Rollin (who many of you will know is a regular volunteer at the Day Centre) will be taking part in the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Charity Cycle Ride — a total of 54 miles, including a few rather steep hills along the way!
In addition to paying the entry fee, he is also making a personal donation. John felt it would be a great opportunity to do something for the village too, and as such has set up a Just Giving page to raise much-needed funds for Burwell Day Centre.
The Day Centre has been running for over 30 years and is a place for the over 55’s to meet, chat, have a cuppa and enjoy a range of activities. In addition, we serve a hot lunch with a delivery option for those preferring to have it at home. We do receive some government funding, however, most of its funding is raised through community fundraising and donations.
John’s fundraising target is £500, and anything from £1 upwards would be hugely appreciated and make a real difference. That said, although John is originally from Yorkshire, he would encourage you to donate as much as you can afford… not as little! 😊
Once John has completed the ride, he will post photos from along the route and, of course, at the finish line. It’ll be just like being there… well, sort of!
