Help Us Keep Washlands Sports & Social Club Accessible for Everyone
The Washlands Sports & Social Club is a vital hub for our community. Every week, over 500 people of all ages use the site to take part in sports, social activities, and community events. From young grassroots players to families and long-standing members of the club, it’s a place where people come together, stay active, and build friendships.
Unfortunately, the access lane to the site is now in a terrible condition.
The surface has deteriorated badly over time, making it increasingly difficult for people to reach the club safely. Large potholes and uneven ground are creating real challenges for cars, pedestrians, and families trying to access the facilities.
We have approached the local council for help with resurfacing the road, but they have confirmed they will not be supporting the repairs.
That means the responsibility falls on the community volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the club running.
Why We Need a Tractor
To keep the lane accessible, we need to regularly grade, level and maintain the surface. The most practical and sustainable solution is to purchase a second-hand tractor that volunteers can use to maintain the access road throughout the year.
With a tractor, we will be able to:
• Level out potholes and ruts
• Spread and grade surface materials
• Maintain safe access during wet and winter months
• Ensure the site remains accessible for all 500+ regular users
Without the ability to maintain the lane, the road will continue to deteriorate and access to the club could eventually become impossible.
