3 senior fixtures this weekend as our 1st XV travel away, with the 2nd XV and 3rd XV at home. Plenty of junior rugby on with U8s right through to Colts representing The Wood.

Here’s your Burntwood results from the weekend.

A huge thank you to all those that came down this weekend, supported the lads and observed the minute silence in remembrance of Simon Barker.

A big thank you to Veseyans Rugby for their kind gesture of flowers to the family. A lovely touch.

A mixed bag of results all around. With the 1st XV putting in a good performance against the Vees, and certainly a try from Aidan Barker that will live long in the memory.

3s came up against a strong Barton under Needwood RUFC team and fell to a heavy loss.

Good wins for our Colts XV and U13s this week, and unfortunate loss for the U16s

A break from senior rugby next week, but there will be plenty on at the club including Autumn Internationals!

Club Announcement

It is with great sadness that Burntwood Rugby Club learn the sudden death of former mini & junior Chairman, junior fixture secretary, referee, club volunteer and club member Simon Barker.

Simon was a much loved member of Burntwood Rugby Club, and indeed the entire Midland's rugby community which he served as a referee for many years. As well as holding several Staffs county positions, he was an active member at BRUFC, only last Saturday refereeing the 3rd XV match. When not refereeing, he was a constant presence home and away watching his son Aidan represent the senior teams.

The whole of BRUFC's members, patrons, players, supporters and staff would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Simons wife Cath, daughter Heather, son and current senior player Aidan and entire family.

Club members have set up a GoFundMe page to support floral tributes on behalf of the club for Simon, and any donation is greatly appreciated.

Both 1st XV and 3rd XV matches this weekend will observe a minute silence for Simon, and graciously, this will also be observed by all rugby matches across the midlands area.

Funeral details will be released when known with family discretion.

Rest in Peace, Simon.

A full weekend of rugby you say? Why not!

✅ Friday night lights for our Colts XV vs Uttoxeter Rugby Club
✅ 2 senior home games Saturday. 1st XV hosting veseyansrugby in the national cup, 3rd XV in a merit league game vs Barton under Needwood RUFC.
✅ U8s right through to U16s in action Sunday morning!
