🟢🔴⚪️Burntwood RUFC | New Head Coach Announcement ⚪️🔴🟢

We are absolutely delighted to welcome David Kirby as the new Head Coach of Burntwood RUFC.

David brings over 35 years of experience across rugby union and rugby league — as both a former professional player and a proven, trophy-winning coach.

His playing career took him from county representative rugby and a professional contract with Saracens at just 17, to professional rugby league with Blackpool Panthers and the Spanish Premiership — experience across two codes at the highest levels.

As a coach, his record is outstanding:

🏆 League & Cup Double — unbeaten season
📈 Multiple promotions as Head Coach
👥 Developed players at academy level with Salford Red Devils

David builds environments where players develop, standards are high, and winning becomes a habit.

We’re delighted to welcome George Davey to Burntwood! 🙌

George comes to us as an experienced centre and fly-half, having played his senior rugby at Bridgnorth before most recently turning out for Newark — and he arrives with some serious representative pedigree, having represented RAF Rugby League.

Versatile, experienced, and ready to hit the ground running — we can’t wait to see what George brings to the back line this season.

📢 We're looking for a Patrons Secretary!

We have a volunteer vacancy on the committee for someone to look after our brilliant patrons community — managing memberships, co-ordinating our bi-annual Patrons Day, and keeping the committee updated with a short monthly report.

It's a flexible role (~2–4 hrs/month), no committee meetings required, and comes with reduced club membership as a thank-you. 🏉

Farewell to Garry Miles 🏉🕊️

We are saddened to share that the funeral of Garry Miles will take place on Tuesday 9th June at 12:30pm at Cannock Chase Crematorium, followed by a wake at Burntwood Rugby Club.

The family warmly welcome all current and past members of the club, and anyone who knew Garry, to come and pay their respects.
