Happy Father’s Day

This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating all the father figures – dads, stepdads, grandads, partners, mentors, uncles, friends — anyone who’s shown up with love, strength, and support.

Too often, we forget that men need softness too.
That they deserve to be celebrated with colour, scent, and something living that says:
“I see you. I appreciate everything you do.”

💐 Flowers are more than a gift — they’re a gesture.
They show love, connection, and thought.
They lift moods, calm busy minds, and brighten homes — just like he does.

-Myth busting hints and tips!-

Last night a had a moment! A rage filled, florist rant at the tv moment! It happens to us all!🤣💐

I was enjoying what should have been a relaxing and inspirational lifestyle programme until it took a dark turn into florist land and enraged the best practice police!!👮

So I am sharing some myth busting hints and tips to ease the rage and help you make the most of your blooms!

-First please DO NOT crush the stems of woody florals or foliage (even those foraged from your garden or responsibility gathered elsewhere.
The woody stems may need your best pair of secateurs and a 45 degree angle cut (so they can keep drinking from the bottom of your vase) but NO crushing!

- sugar/lemonade in the water isn’t a good flower food replacement. It can bring more bacteria to your vase and shorten the enjoyment of your cut flowers. If you are out of flower food then a scrupulously clean vase is the way to go with a regular water change.

- although in your garden your blooms enjoy all the sunshine outside once cut they are happiest out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (like radiators) and will thank you for it by being beautiful for longer

And this is our top tip.
-Not all flowers have the same vase life. Once one has faded, remove it from your vase. This helps stop bacteria growing. Along with your regular water change (every 2-3 days) this is the best tip for longer lasting blooms.
One customer who always uses this technique told us the last of her Christmas florals faded just before her Mother’s Day gift arrived! Amazing!

Beltane Blessings & Birthday Blooms

Today marks Beltane — the ancient Celtic festival of fire, fertility, and flourishing life — and also happens to be my birthday. No coincidence, perhaps, that I’ve built a life around flowers, colour, and celebration!

Beltane honours the turning of the wheel into the bright half of the year, when the earth bursts into bloom and we honour beauty, passion, and creativity. In floristry, it’s a time of abundant inspiration: fresh blossoms, wild greens, and the joyful chaos of nature in full swing.

As I celebrate another turn around the sun, I’m feeling grateful for the magic flowers bring — to rituals, to everyday life, and to moments both sacred and simple.

Here’s to blooming wildly, loving deeply, and always finding reasons to celebrate.

• Every stem, leaf and offcut is composted to return to the earth

Because flowers shouldn’t just be beautiful—they should be kind, too.
