Sapey XC – the end of an era.
After 23 years of having fabulous horse trials on our farm we have decided that sadly it is time for the Sapey Cross Course to close, and so regretfully there will be no more competitions or schooling here at Sapey.
This decision has certainly not been an easy one as we have had some wonderful events over the years and have met many lovely people from all over the UK and other Nationalities too. However, with the current challenges we can see how difficult it is becoming with rising costs and other constraints, and so it is with heavy hearts that we have made this decision, which we know will come as a surprise to some but sadly it must be an end of an era for us.
When we began back in August 2002, with the first British Eventing Event we could not have imagined just how well known in the eventing calendar Sapey would become, and this is due to the support we have had from British Eventing officials and staff and from initially the Lochore Family and then MEM for their invaluable help and advice in those early years. We have had such an amazing team of the people, too many to mention individually, from officials, stewards, contractors to volunteer helpers, we cannot express how grateful we are for your loyal support and dedication in whatever role you had at the events.
And a special mention for the behind-the-scenes Sapey Team, the course builders, the ground care team, the chief stewards looking after the volunteers, and our very long-standing Entries Secretary & Assistant Organiser our lovely Greta Sparey.
Lastly, for all the owners and riders thank you for your bringing your horses and competing at Sapey, it has been a privilege to welcome you here, and we hope that you will all have some special memories too.
Thank you and farewell.
