This is not the message we thought we’d be writing to you at this time.
We sensed that Ben is struggling, and he is deteriorating every day.
We have now reviewed and considered all of the documentation and possible treatment options that Bristol Vet Specialist have sent us.
It’s a lot more than we thought. A lot more in the way of treatment - more sedation/anaesthetisation, more visits, more injections etc.
We clearly didn’t fully understand what it entailed after the initial meeting. Radiotherapy for 3 weeks sounded achievable.
We are heartbroken and devastated beyond comprehension that we must allow Ben to transition. It initially appeared that he wanted to fight on. But the pain is too much on his little body, and he’s tired.
We’re so grateful for every person who has donated, and we wanted you to know as soon as possible.
Today is his birthday, and we started ticking off his bucket list of fun things to do. See pics below of him at the cemetery, doggie ice cream, & waiting for fresh chicken.
Ben has been part of our lives for 14 years, today marks the 14th anniversary of him making us a family.
Ben was visited by an animal communicator today, what she told us was that he was ready. He’s in pain and his favourite things to do, like smelling and tasting aren’t good anymore, and he’s ready when we are.
Of course, I can’t ever imagine being ready. I’ve been waiting for a miracle, I momentarily forgot that he was here all along. My precious boy.
Thank you to those who shared, donated, and supported us. Ben, Jim, & Lou xx
