What you see here is two international performers doing what they do best - entertaining!

A couple of cowgirls performing a choreographed routine in a tent at Boomtown …

Except! The behind the scenes creation was EPIC!

It started with a voice note from Hannah Nicholls , possibly the best client voice note I’ve received EVER! Followed by a creative meeting with Hannah & Holly, several hours of testing & research, 8 days of making, a couple of fittings, some serious creative engineering, mastery in patternmaking, and voila!

👢2 pairs of cowboy boot-style gators to fit a human AND a blow-up centaur
🐟 2 sets of size adapting fishnets with the butt removed
👛 A nose bag
🚽 ‘Powder room’ curtain
🩲 2 pairs of frilly panties
🐄 2 wrap-over floofy cowgirl skirts
👐 1 giant glittery stuffed adult toy

All made from materials and offcuts already existing in our collective studios! Apart from the fishnets.

South West Sustainable Fashion Designer of the Year! 🎉

Huge thanks to .prestige.awards for presenting me with this award and particularly for this incredible interview.

As lone entrepreneurs, we get so locked in on planning, analysing, creating, and all the stuff that comes with running a business.

During this interview I realised how important it is to take a moment and reflect and remind yourself how far you’ve come. I’m so grateful for my journey and all that it brought me.

It doesn’t escape me how I’m in this position, and I focus every day on using it for good.

Currently there’s more outtakes than content! 😂 Our Heavy Duty 4423 clearly outperforming all of us! At least someone is doing their job.

This amazing machine was my prize for being one of the winners of the Student Sustainable Sewing competition judged by

Singer Sewing UK teamed up with Barnardo's Retail to host this competition and our garments were then auctioned off LIVE on eBay UK by the incredible Nicole Akong • Designer👗 • Maker🪡 • Refashionista 🪄.

School blazer not suitable for wear? No problem!

This stunning two piece is the result of an old school blazer and a shirt. Another Wellspring Settlement Swannery Youth Club repurposing project almost finished!

Can you see what we did? 👀

- turned the blazer into a waistcoat
- Took a pocket from the shirt and put it onto the waistcoat
- turned the shirt into ‘tails’!

This was the first pic before closing the bottom with our Singer Sewing UK Heavy Duty 4423. We’ve just got a buttonhole to add and two buttons!

Another gorgeous repurposed garment from The Swannery Youth Club last week!

I love volunteering at The Swannery. We’ve been running a couple of different programmes - garment repurposing and an entrepreneurship pathway that’s going to pre-launch very soon!

One of the girls asked to make a tshirt with a heart on the front. She gave me this gorgeous illustration when I asked for a drawing of it.

This is a shirt, one of 5, that a neighbour of mine donated. We cut the collar, sleeves and length, hemmed the edges, then made a heart from tulle and attached it.

I used our incredible Singer Sewing UK Heavy Duty 4423 & Gütermann creativ UK thread.

Winner!!

Thank you so much to Prestige Awards for choosing me as their SouthWest Sustainable Fashion Designer of the Year!

Recognition for sustainable fashion and textile waste reduction is so important, and I’m utterly thrilled!

I had a wonderful time at the photo op event and met some wonderful fellow winners. The team were absolutely lovely, and I felt very special.

Looking forward to putting my trophy in the studio! 🤩

Repurposing T-shirts programme for 6-11 year olds

This programme has a gamified skills-learning approach that includes fun team games, designing, sustainability, and hand and machine sewing.

Each child brought pre-loved T-shirts in to share. These shirts are then divided into 5 parts with an aim to keep their favourite part for themselves. The other pieces are then chosen by other members of the class.

The outcome is a unique tshirt designed by each superstar designer, connected to the fun they had with their friends in the class, and sewn together by them using an overlocker machine. It will also include an embroidery embellishment that they created a few weeks ago.

We’re having lots of fun and will end the programme with a fashion show and a display of their inventive designs!
