🎂 Mick Jagger turns 83 today. 🚲 You know the frontman, the swagger, the 12-odd miles he covers pacing a stadium in a single Stones show. Fewer people know the other side of that fitness.
He rides, properly, and he has done since the 1960s. It never became a phase or a photo op. Cycling is part of a training week that runs six days, guided by his Norwegian coach.
One of those days is a dedicated ride, hard enough to matter. Around it he keeps the legs moving with lighter recovery spins, and when a tour is on the horizon he'll spend hours at conversation pace, quietly building aerobic base like any rider chasing form.
The bike backs it up. It's a Condor, from the London workshop that also supplied Bradley Wiggins. This is a man who cares about what he's riding.
There's something in that for the rest of us. The riders who keep going into their 70s and 80s tend to be the ones who never got off. Happy birthday, Mick. Keep turning them over.
