How to fix a Vestax PDX series turntable when the buttons no longer work and the LEDs no longer show. The issue is down to 2x 10uF capacitors on the UCOM board responsible for the analogue and digital 5v line.

Here we have a recent restoration I performed for my friend Ollie. The turntable arrived as a parts unit and whilst the motor was fine the UCOM board looked like it had seen better days. The entire turntable was stripped down and rebuilt using a combination of new and old parts. Took a fair bit of time but now looks 100% and topped off with one of our reproduction slip mats.

It’s been non stop over here, new faceplates arriving for our orders. New products and a ridiculous amount of services. Here’s one to kick off with: a Vestax PMC-37 which had been sent to me from the USA after an initial repair hadn’t worked. The unit was sent over here to see what we could do as the unit wasn’t turning on. There were quite a lot of issues to deal with so the best thing to do was to strip everything back and start again. The +/- voltage regulators were changed, the smoothing caps were checked and the 7909 was isolated from the heatsink. A few broken pots were changed and one of the VU ICs was replaced due to it creating a sporadic lighting effect. Once all the faders were serviced it was re-assembled, tested and sent back to NYC.

Been meaning to make these forever. Vestax PDX target lights for turntables. Someone used to make this exact design but stopped doing it after a while. These use white LEDs and run off the 12V supply on the turntable so could be used on Stanton’s too. Here you can see it on a very nice Vestax PDX-3000 MK2, available on the store now.

Inside our MixerRemix CF-1 Vestax crossfaders. Each one is assembled by us and modified for a sharper cut with an additional spacer we make. The fader stock we use is from ALPHA and originally made in 2012 so we clean and re-lube every single one to ensure they are some of the lightest around. Twinned with gold plated Molex connectors and plated PCBs we’re pretty chuffed seeing them in a lot of our customers mixers.

A super early and rare Vestax PMC-05 Pro grey edition. This one belongs to and formerly owned by When it arrived all the RCA jacks at the back were bent out of shape, the headphone volume shaft was broken and there was some real damage to the master RCA outputs (a common issue on 1st gen.) All repaired, cleaned and back up and running with its super clean SFV faders.

If you know you know… French high-end rotary mixer E&S DJR-400. Came in with a non-working LED indicator light and missing its power supply. Took a bit of effort to work out how it’s all assembled (remove top and bottom screws, all the k***s and nuts on top then it peels away.) Replaced a Jamicon cap with a far nicer Panasonic FC, changed the LED, improved the soldering, fixed the contacts in the RCA jacks and gave the PCB an isopropyl clean. Since the PSU wasn’t with the unit we paired it up with our own for testing. Our power supply is a proper chunky beast well deserving of this £4K mixer. Ours has a thermal fuse built in, external enclosure and gold plated Neutrik DIN connector.

Ecler Nuo 2.0, I bought this broken unit a while back. It’s a nice two channel mixer which had the option to upgrade to the revered Eternal Fader. This one had intermittent audio on Channel 1, the culprit? A worn channel fader and a dirty input select switch. Whilst the faders are easy to swap out, getting the main board out is a bit more of a struggle with all the electronics inside. I swapped both input faders with our own FADSTD100K faders and disassembled all the input switches to get it back to new.
