There are still some spots available for our hand tied dahlia workshop this Friday.

It includes a guided PYO where I show you what to pick, how to pick it. We’ll stop for some cake and tea while the flowers rest and then I’ll show you how to arrange your flowers into a wild bouquet.

Head to our shop to get your hands on my favourite sunflowers. Grown only with compost, sunshine, rain (or the lack thereof!) and love. They’ll be picked in tight bud for you and you’ll get an excellent vase life.

Oh and they’re pollen free so no mess!

September is one of the most abundant months of the year for flowers. Admittedly, 5 heatwaves has somewhat muddled that, but I still have loads of crops: dahlias, cosmos, tagetes, jasmine, amaranths and the first Japanese anemone and sunflowers starting this week.

We’ve got some Wild Zinnia news that I’ve been meaning to share for ages, but hadn’t quite been ready to share. For the last year or so debs was working two jobs, here at The Wild Zinnia and as a chaplain in schools and before the summer Debs has stepped back from the flower farm to give more time to her role in schools. It’s a huge loss for me- it’s been a wonderful journey building this business together but it is so exciting to see her next chapter unfold.

What does this mean for The Wild Zinnia? Well it’s been a summer of surprises. We’ve expanded and had 5 heatwaves sending all the perennials into dormancy. But the field is still throwing out an abundance of flowers and I couldn’t have done it without the help of some wonderful people who’ll get an introduction later this week.

It has meant that I have been rubbish at correspondence over the summer. Wholesale letters and monthly newsletters all but stopped. September always feels like a time of fresh starts so these will be starting up again with news of workshops, pick your owns and what flowers we’ve got available.

This is the experience you need in your life. A morning with me, sharing all the industry secrets that you need.

I’ll show you what to pick, when to pick and how to pick (because this matters a lot for the flowers). And then it’s your turn, will full run of the field.

I’ll share all the secrets for getting long vase life, post picking (and no it doesn’t involve bleach, sugar or pins).

And then I’ll show you have to arrange your carefully chosen blooms into a flouncy armful of joy. And there will be plenty of tea and cake.
