🏉 Sandy Mitchell 10s - Saturday 9th August at Lockleaze Sports Centre

We’re proud to be a part of the inaugural ‘Sandy Mitchell’ Bristol Combination 10s Tournament this Saturday, 9th August at Lockleaze Sports Centre named in honour of our late trustee Sandy Mitchell BEM. The tournament will annually support a Bristol-relevant charity, and this year fundraising is for the RFU Injured Players Foundation (IPF). This year’s fundraising is inspired by the incredible story of Liam O’Keeffe, who broke his neck playing for St Mary’s OB RFC 10 years ago. Now, Liam is preparing to become the first person with tetraplegia to push himself up Mount Kilimanjaro in a specially adapted trike aiming to raise £50,000 for the IPF.

A massive thank you to all who turned out for our Annual General Meeting yesterday evening.

We had four fantastic candidates vying for 1st XV captaincy, all four spoke passionately about their vision for the club and following a closed vote, we’re delighted to announce Jay Burley has been elected 1st XV captain. A former junior, back row Jay has been a standout player in the side over the previous seasons, and we look forward to his leadership on and off the pitch. Assisting Jay will be Charlie Dowell, who continues as vice-captain.

A massive thanks to outgoing captain Ricky Haddow for all his efforts.

Our 2nd XV will be lead by Jon Angell, a longstanding member of the club, with Rich Maggs as vice. Congratulations to both.

Finally, we are pleased to present Ben Roberts as our new club coach. Ben had a trophy winning stint with Broad Plain over three successful seasons, turning the club into title contenders with three sides out for the first time in 20 years.

Ben brings with him a wealth of playing experience at a high level for the likes of Cleve and we feel his enthusiasm, knowledge, and personality matches what we need to take our group of players to the next level.

Best of luck to all our officers elected onto committee, and here’s to a successful 2025/26 season as we celebrate 130 years of Bristol Saracens.
