Lighthouse

Lighthouse Support artists using digital technology & help people succeed in the creative & cultural industries.

Lighthouse is a Brighton-based arts charity that supports artists who use digital technology in their work and helps people find routes into and succeed within the creative and cultural industries. From our central Brighton venues, we offer education and talent development programmes, commission artists to make and present new work, and produce exhibitions, talks and residencies. We have two key

talent development programmes for underrepresented young creatives - Lighthouse Young Creatives and Future Creative Leaders. In 2024 we opened the Lighthouse Project Space, Brighton’s first public, youth-led art space. It provides young creatives with a dynamic, multipurpose space to produce, create, perform, showcase and collaborate on artistic projects.

CFI Media and Lighthouse present Homegrown (2025)! 🎬Film Screening and Q&A.

Join us on Weds 10 September at Crawley College for the first public screening of Homegrown (2025) by our last cohort of Lighthouse Young Creatives (LYC). Savannah Lovelidge, Jake Helliwell, Lillian Waddington and Nay wrote, produced and shot this gripping short film about a grieving young man, torn by loss and seeking belonging, finds himself drawn into a dangerous world of manipulation and hate - one that threatens to consume him entirely. (Scroll to see behind the scenes pics!)

After the screening, enjoy an exclusive Q&A with the filmmakers, where they will share their inspirations and decisions which shaped their filmmaking journey.

🎬 This film, which highlights the important topics of racism and radicalisation, was written after the UK race riots last summer and is particularly relevant in today’s political climate.

❤️ Homegrown (2025) was supported by a team of industry professionals, including LYC filmmaker and mentor Callum Johnston.

Experience a sound slowly disappear...

In Degrade, five vintage reel-to-reel machines create shifting compositions that fade, distort, and collapse, their decay triggered by you. This visceral audio art installation by Adrien Châtelain, a Lighthouse Young Creatives alumnus, reflects the irreversible cycles of climate damage we set in motion.

Be there for the private view on Tuesday 9 September, 5 - 7 PM, to meet the artist and explore the work.

📅 Exhibition continues on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, 12 - 5 PM - FREE just turn up!

Created with support from Lighthouse.

Step inside a world where beauty unravels.

In Degrade, reel-to-reel tape loops sing with immersive birdsong, until your very presence begins their destruction. As the music erodes, so too does the illusion of permanence, mirroring the cycles of consumption driving the climate catastrophe.
