Ever feel like you’re living in your head, overthinking everything and finding it hard to switch off?

Sometimes, reconnecting with ourselves starts with something as simple as the breath.

We’re shining a light on BWF community member Liz Lilley , who brings together expansive breathwork, psychotherapy, massage therapy and other practices to support people in reconnecting with themselves and exploring their inner worlds.

Whether you’re curious about breathwork, looking for a different way to explore what you’re feeling, or simply wanting to make more space for yourself, Liz offers a range of ways to begin.

Want to find out more about Liz and her work?

Give her a follow Liz Lilley and head to lizlilley.com to explore her offerings.

And if you’re a Brighton based wellness professional, this is what our community is all about: connecting people with brilliant practitioners doing meaningful work. 💛

Motherhood doesn’t always unfold as we imagined. For some, there are babies we never got to bring home, pregnancies that ended too soon, or the motherhood we hoped for but never experienced.

On Thursday 15 October, stepbystepbrighton is holding a free, online Wave of Light Gathering: a gently held ceremony to honour these losses and the grief that so often goes unwitnessed.

Together, there will be candle lighting, a moment of silence and the opportunity to have names read aloud anonymously during the reflection.

There is no expectation to share your story. This is simply a space to pause, remember and honour, in the company of others who understand that some grief has no tidy ending.

🗓️ Thursday 15 October
⏰ 6.45pm UK time · 30 minutes
📍 Online via Zoom, free to attend

You can also submit a name to be read during the ceremony by emailing [email protected] by 4pm on 15 October.

Building a business can be lonely.

We’re all trying to create work that feels meaningful, supports the people around us and contributes something good, while also figuring out how to make it financially sustainable… It’s a lot!

That’s why our monthly Meet & Connect calls are such an important part of the BWF community.

While we’d love to get everyone together in person all the time, these regular online gatherings make it easy to drop in, meet some new people and have a proper conversation with others who understand the journey you’re on.

There’s space to talk about what’s working, what isn’t, the things you’re figuring out and the bigger questions around building a business with purpose.

And then, when we do meet in person, you’re not walking into a room full of strangers… you already know a few faces. 🥰

Curious about what it’s like to be part of the BWF community? We’re currently offering a free 2-week trial, so you can come in, explore the community, join a Meet & Connect and see if it feels like the right fit for you.

DM us to join our next call on 29 October at 12:15, & for your free trial of our community - which includes marketing perks! 💖.

With world mental health day coming up, we wanted to highlight that looking after our mental health doesn’t have to mean doing something big or super expensive…

It can be a walk, a chat with someone in the sauna, moving your body, sitting with other people, taking an hour away from your phone, finding somewhere you can breathe a little more deeply and feel a little more like yourself.

Brighton is full of places, spaces and people that can support our wellbeing in all sorts of ways.

So today, we’re celebrating some of the community spaces where you can pause, reconnect and find a little peace in the city.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to care for your mental health. Small moments of connection, rest and support are so important 💛

One whole year since BWF popped up across the city! Proud to be different, our wellness festival speaks to more than products, hype and simply how we look.

We want you to be truly well and feel amazing - both for you (you deserve it!) and for the ripple effect being happy & self-aware has on the world.

In a world that needs more “we” and less “me”, we champion community, collaboration, inclusivity and collective healing ❤️. How very ‘Brighton’ of us!

Here are some of our highlights…

1) the BWF Summit, ft 20 local speakers, 10 local wellness brands, 25 workshops and much thought-provoking convos on what wellness really means ❤️

2) female founder chats with Grow With Lara Sheldrake at Luna Hut Sauna 🔥

3) an epic edition of & RubyMoon GymToSwim® 🌊🤸 full moon yoga & swim on the beach, ft epic sunset

4) LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Wellness hosted several events supporting our lgbtqia+ community, including a drum circle with Musa Francis | Wellness Coach + Writer

5) mindset met sound healing in Hema Patel ‘s powerful workshop at Projects

6) one of my personal highlight, listening to Megan Cooper | Trauma-Informed Holistic Coaching & Therapy Kaia Allen-Bevan discuss what collective wellness really means, and where activism sits within our industry (spoiler - it’s central to what we do!)

7) our epic opening party curated by Ariana • آریانا (forever grateful for your support!) ft wellness immersions by Salsa & Flow™ Classes with Verity & Co @ Flow State Hove Grounded Life Jeng_Soul Lullaby FLOW STATE HOVE Anderson Acoustics - Tactile Sound and incredible food by TAAROF - food for social justice

One year ago today, it was the opening night of the very first Brighton Wellness Festival!

What you can’t see in this photo is that just three weeks earlier, I had experienced my second miscarriage of the year.

Launching an ambitious new business whilst carrying grief was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Although the festival was a success and I received so much wonderful feedback, I felt pretty disconnected from it all because I was so depleted.

This year, sadly there’s no festival…

Instead, I’m writing this with my three-week-old baby girl in my arms. 🤍

Looking at these two photos side by side feels quite surreal. Same person. Same passion for Brighton Wellness. But a very different season of life.

But rest assured… BWF was created whilst I was on maternity leave with my first daughter. I’m already excited to see how I and the business evolves with my second 💖

We asked you to share the love Brighton, and you delivered!

We received so many recommendations for people and businesses doing brilliant things across the Brighton wellness scene, so we wanted to shine a little extra light on some of them. It’s so lovely to hear about the difference you’re making in our community.

Know someone who deserves a shout out? Make sure you tag them in next month’s ’Share the Love’ post 🧡
