You can't control every shot, bounce, card or outcome on the playing field, table or course.

But you can practise how quickly you return your attention to the present moment.

That's what I mean by bounce-ability.

In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we look for the times you've already demonstrated the ability to cope, recover and perform well — then build on those existing strengths.

You don't need to become a different athlete. You need to get better at accessing the one you already are.

What happens after a bad shot is often more important than the bad shot itself.

Writing down three good things before bed is a simple habit I encourage all of my clients to practise.

But the real magic isn't in making a list.

It's in taking a moment to fully experience why those moments mattered.

When you slow down and reconnect with the feelings behind a positive experience, you're helping your brain pay more attention to what's already going well. Over time, this can make it easier to notice the positives, quieten the constant search for problems and go to bed with a calmer, more balanced mind.

Tiny moments count.

Conversation, walks, a nice meal, a stranger smiling back at us, playing with our pets.

Don't rush past them. Pause and feel them, deeply. Let your brain learn from them.

If you'd like to learn more about how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps retrain the brain towards calmer, healthier thinking, feel free to send me a message.

One of the biggest reasons golfers lose focus is because they're playing holes that haven't happened yet.
Standing on the 8th tee thinking...
"I need three pars to break 80."
Or...
"I can't afford another bogey."
The problem is, your brain can't play the 18th hole from the 8th tee.
It can only play this shot.
When your attention jumps ahead to the score, your thinking becomes cluttered. Pressure increases, tension creeps in and it becomes much harder to commit to the shot in front of you.
Elite performers know something different.
They trust that if they keep making good decisions, committing to each shot and staying present, the score will usually take care of itself.
The scoreboard is an outcome.
Your process is what gets you there.
If you'd like to train your brain to stay calmer, more focused and perform with greater consistency, send me a message to find out how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy could help.

Football fans don't stop believing after one bad result.

They know one game doesn't define an entire season.

Yet so many of us judge ourselves after one mistake, one poor round of golf, one awkward conversation or one setback.

Imagine if you supported yourself with the same loyalty, patience and encouragement you naturally give to your favourite team.

Self-belief isn't about expecting perfection.

It's about trusting yourself through the ups and the downs.

That's something we work on every week in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, helping you build a calmer, kinder and more resilient mindset, whether that's on the golf course, in sport or in everyday life.

“I really, really don't want to play golf today.”
I arrived this morning… and honestly, look at this. 🌧️
But I went anyway.
Because sometimes the best thing you can do for your brain is deliberately do something you don't want to do.
Every time you step outside your comfort zone and discover “actually, I can handle this,” you're giving your brain new evidence.
That's how resilience grows.
You don't always need to feel motivated before you take action.
Sometimes you take the action first…
and let your brain learn that you're capable of handling it.
Right. Let's get that kettle on! 😂

Had a horrible bad beat? Here's what I want you to do next...
Nothing.
At least not immediately.
Don't instantly analyse the hand.
Don't question your entire game.
Don't decide you're suddenly playing terribly.
First, pause.
Take a breath.
Feel whatever frustration is there without letting it make your next decision.
Then ask yourself:
“Was my decision good?”
If yes → accept the result.
If no → learn from it.
Then move on.
Because the real danger isn't always the bad beat itself.
It's allowing one hand to influence the next twenty.
Your goal isn't to avoid frustration.
It's to make sure frustration doesn't start playing the game for you.

One of the biggest differences between elite performers in golf and everyone else isn't talent...
It's where they put their attention.
They don't waste energy trying to control the weather, bad bounces, slow play, difficult pin positions or what their playing partners are doing.
Because they know those things are outside their control.
Instead, they focus on what is within their control:
⛳ Their breathing.
⛳ Their pre-shot routine.
⛳ Their commitment to the shot.
⛳ Their attitude after a mistake.
⛳ Their body language.
⛳ Their response to pressure.
When you spend less time fighting the uncontrollable, your thinking brain stays online. You feel calmer, make better decisions and allow your body to perform the skills you've already built.
The goal isn't to control golf...
It's to control yourself within the game.
That's where consistent performance begins.
If you'd like to improve the mental side of your golf through Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, send me a message to find out more.

Most golfers think a pre-shot routine is simply about consistency.

It is.

But it's also doing something far more important.

A familiar routine gives your brain a sense of certainty. Instead of reacting to pressure, your nervous system recognises, "I've been here before."

That helps quieten the primitive brain, reduce mental chatter and makes it easier to trust the swing you've already spent years developing.

It's one of the simplest ways to play calmer, more committed golf.

Want to improve your mental game?
I help golfers understand how their brain works and use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to build confidence, reduce overthinking and perform more freely on the course.

Most people think the only way to improve is through more physical practice.

But your brain learns in another powerful way too.

When you vividly imagine yourself performing successfully, many of the same neural pathways become active as they do during the real movement. That's why mental rehearsal is used by elite athletes across golf, tennis, snooker, darts and many other sports.

In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we combine relaxation with guided visualisation to help your brain rehearse success, quieten mental chatter and build confidence. The aim isn't to change your technique, it's to help you trust the skills you already have and perform more consistently when it matters most.

If you'd like to learn how sports performance hypnotherapy could help you perform with a calmer, more confident mind, send me a message.

Visualisation isn't about hoping the ball goes in.

It's about giving your brain a clear picture of what you want it to do.

One of my favourite techniques is to imagine a gentle magnet underneath the hole, with an invisible string connecting your ball to it. Not pulling it aggressively... just softly guiding it towards the target.

The less you try to force the outcome, the easier it becomes to trust the movement you've already practised.

Whether it's golf, snooker, darts or another precision sport, your brain and body often perform best when your attention is on the target rather than the mechanics and you can use the magnet visualisation for any of these different sports.

If you'd like to improve your confidence, quieten the mental chatter and perform with greater freedom, send me a message to find out how sports performance hypnotherapy could help.
