Thanks to The Unusual Suspect for his entertainment last Sunday, though our sympathies somewhat as an important bowls day meant that at times his audience was on the small side! We'll try not to let that happen again!
Coming up this week, the welcome return of The Acoustics, with their assorted set of well known hits to get you up and dancing.
Onto the bowls; the Sunday afternoon music coincided with the latest round of the Bill Hawkins trophy, where we were playing Peacehaven. Unfortunately, Peacehaven got the better of us on this occasion in a see-saw match which was in the balance up until the end.
Sunday evening saw our team play their last-16 Top Club match against Dorchester. Another match which could have gone either way, with Hove & Kingsway winning the two-wood but losing the four-wood, then winning the pairs but losing the triples, leaving it all on the fours, which was tied at 16 all going into the last end. The good news is we won by one shot, and are now bound for the National Finals in Leamington Spa, with the last-8 match on Friday 29th August.
Last but by no means least, the Brighton Hove & District League reached it's climax last night. Going into the final round of games Hove & Kingsway were top on shots difference, level on points with Mackie. Hove & Kingsway did what they needed to do, winning 10-0 (against Woodingdean B) with an impressive 78-34 shots scoreline. Mackie obliged by only winning 8-2 (against Peqacehaven), so Hove & Kingsway are promoted as champions with 84 points to Mackie's 82. Division one awaits!
Congratulations on a(nother) successful promotion campaign to all who took part in the league this season, and thanks to Davie for his organisation.
