The longer you’re with someone, the less actual language you seem to need.
At some point, perfectly normal sentences get replaced by half-finished thoughts, weird noises, facial expressions, nicknames that have evolved so many times they bear no resemblance to the original name, and references to something that happened in 2013 that would make absolutely no sense to anybody else.
You can say two words and somehow communicate an entire paragraph.
And I reckon at least 40% of conversations in a long-term relationship would be completely incomprehensible to an outsider 😂
It’s basically your own private language - built up from years of shared experiences, in-jokes and tiny bits of history that only the two of you understand.
Please tell me we’re not the only ones… what’s something you and your partner say that would sound completely unhinged to anyone else? 👇
