At a recent funeral-planning meeting, the deceased’s daughter spoke so lovingly and appreciatively about her mum but claimed she couldn’t find the words to speak at the funeral.

So, I used the wonderful things she said and wrote a poem on her behalf to be read out by the deceased’s great-grandchild.

In terms of time and effort, this is not a sensible way to run a business. 🤦‍♀️

In terms of offering a heart-felt and truly bespoke service, this is an example of how a dedicated celebrant tries to make important events as special as they can be. 🩷

Don’t just do your job, love what you do- and put your heart into it!

I may well be spending many hours crafting a eulogy… but I am smiling so much at the deceased’s character and experiences that it has become a privilege and a pleasure.

Funerals are so important. Understanding of the deceased’s life is vital in the survival of the bereaved. Sensitivity, empathy, adoration and respect are all needed to be able to do my job with integrity.
