We’re delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs to join the fun! 🌿🚜

To help keep everyone safe and comfortable — including our livestock, wildlife, volunteers, and visitors — we kindly ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times throughout the event.

🌿 Why Open Farm Sunday Matters 🌿

Open Farm Sunday is about opening the farm gate and connecting people with the story behind their food.
It’s a chance to meet local farmers, ask questions, see how food is produced and learn how farming works alongside nature and the environment.
Modern farming is about much more than producing food — it’s also about caring for wildlife, improving soil health, protecting water and looking after the countryside for future generations.
By welcoming people onto the farm, we hope to build understanding, trust and stronger connections between farming and the local community.
Whether you’re visiting for the tractor rides, the animals, the local food or simply a day in the countryside, we look forward to sharing what we do and why it matters.

🌿 Talking Scrapes and how they are a Win for Wildlife & Farms 🐸🦆

The Marshwood Vale Farmers Cluster met at last night to visit one of their 3 scrapes and, with the knowledge of Prof , learn how to utilise and what benefits they bring to a farm. Even in a drought! Following this lovely evening walk through the farm, the team met back at the barn for burgers and cider!

💧 What are scrapes?
They’re low-lying, shallow areas that hold rainwater seasonally—perfect for creating mini-wetlands!

🌾 Benefits of scrapes on farmland:
🦢 Boost biodiversity — birds, frogs, insects & more
🐞 Natural pest control — more bugs = more birds = fewer pests
