🎃 Halloween Tartan Noir: An Evening of Dark Scottish Crime
Bernie's Cafe Deli Thurs 29th October 7pm (doors 6.30pm)
As Halloween approaches, join us for a deliciously dark evening of Tartan Noir, gothic mystery and spine-tingling Scottish crime with acclaimed authors Suzy Aspley and Michael J Malone in conversation with bestselling crime writer Alex Gray.
Prepare to step into the shadows as Suzy and Michael discuss their latest novels, The Bone Mother and The Cutting, two atmospheric and unsettling thrillers that bring together murder, mystery, folklore and the supernatural.
In The Bone Mother, Suzy Aspley returns with the chilling second instalment of her Martha Strangeways series. Set against the wild landscape of the Scottish Highlands, the discovery of a human ear and the ritualistic murder of a young woman lead journalist Martha into a dark world of Celtic folklore, ancient rituals and the mysterious Bone Mother goddess. And with Halloween approaching, a killer is determined to protect the sacred land at any cost.
In The Cutting, the fourth Annie Jackson mystery from Michael J. Malone, a woman haunted by the voice of a dead serial killer seeks Annie's help. As Annie and her brother Lewis investigate, they are drawn into Scotland's darkest history, occult secrets and a mystery where some ghosts are definitely not ready to remain in the shadows.
With the wonderful Alex Gray chairing, expect a fascinating conversation about writing crime, the darker side of Scotland, folklore, ghosts, murder and the things that go bump in the night.
Two chilling new novels. One very spooky evening.
If you love Tartan Noir, gothic crime, Scottish folklore, psychological thrillers and stories that keep you awake at night, this is the perfect Halloween-season event for you.
