Thank you to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday on Wednesday

I was at work (good)
at Scouts (excellent)
and got lovely presents (great)
and conjunctivitis (not great)
and eye ointment (great again)

Yesterday
I was at a singing workshop
and today
I was at Gang Show rehearsal

What is a gang show?

It is an incredible opportunity
for young people
(and not so young people)
to spend time together
learning skills, discipline
stagecraft and camaraderie
rehearsing with one objective

To put on a high quality
variety show
that is going to have you
singing, laughing and feeling so glad
that you too can feel
that for a couple of hours
you can be part of The Gang

The last week in November
we are at
Beacon Arts Centre
in Greenock

We promise
we will make you smile

I am also a Scout Leader
(well, Explorer Scouts)

Sunday 16th August

Very first rehearsal for the
2026 Greenock and District
Scout Gang Show

A cast of over 100
in the only non city Gang Show
in the whole of Scotland
(and probably the UK)

A variety show
with songs, sketches and
a whole lot of arsing about
in a truly spectacular fashion

This is Greenock and District’s
biggest fundraiser
(and I am in church every week
for actually months)

SO, get the dates in your diary

Scottish Power Pipe Band
in the
Quartets Competition

Six of the Grade One Pipe Bands
send four pipers to play
and compete for a trophy
in the week of the
World Pipe Band Championships

(no photos allowed
of the competition itself

itchy woolly socks
and

Jude and Sam were married on Saturday
after a whirlwind romance
and gorgeous domesticity
and football and swearing
and more romance

When they met for the first time
Sam shouted
“honey, I’m home”
and Jude knew
that no one could ever match up to Sam
No one was fit
“to lace her boots”

So that was that
A marriage ceremony in the Burgh Halls
with pizza, sweeties, rainbows
(did you notice the rainbows?)
and half of Sam’s football team
(and a ball, obviously)

It was a wee bit gorgeous
and a wee bit wild
and a big bit hilarious
