We’ve made a few changes to the site here at Barbury so please allow time to familiarise yourselves when you arrive and follow the one way systems. The course is live on the cross country course app and is open for walking until 9pm this evening. ☀️

We’re working all areas that were on the firmer side, with some good storms of rain combined with excellent grass cover at Barbury making a real difference.

Competitor Information for Barbury Castle Horse Trials this weekend

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you all. Just a few reminders ahead of the weekend:

• Times are now live on Eventing Scores
• The XC course will be open to walk from 2pm on Friday 29th
• Please make sure you have printed your number before arriving
• will be onsite throughout the weekend taking photos
• Equireel will also be joining us, capturing every rider over every fence
• A selection of food, drinks and ice cream will be available onsite
• We will also have a small selection of trade stands, including who all weekend
• Please be mindful that the site layout has changed this year and follow the one-way system onsite
• Speeds have been adapted to allow competitors to ride to the conditions
• Cool down areas and a vet will be available at the finish
• Please make sure both you and your horse stay hydrated throughout the day

We are also monitoring the current Equine Flu situation closely. Spot checks will be carried out, so please ensure your horse is up to date with vaccinations and that you have your passport with you.

We’re looking forward to seeing those of you coming along to Barbury Castle Horse Trials in just a few days! It’s looking like it’s going to be a hot one, so please take extra care looking after both yourselves and your horses.

Here’s what we’ll be doing on site to help competitors and horses stay safe and comfortable in the heat:

☀️ Speeds adapted to allow competitors to ride to the conditions
☀️ Dedicated cool-down area at the finish
☀️ Water available across the site
☀️ Vet present at the finish

Please remember to:
☀️ Keep horses hydrated throughout the day
☀️ Use shade wherever possible
☀️ Cool horses down thoroughly after exercise
☀️ Allow extra recovery time between phases

Musketeer Events have made the difficult decision to consolidate all entries for their Unaffiliated ODE at Barbury Castle to Saturday (30th) and Sunday (31st) May.
