My name is Charlotte Pennefather, I live in North Cumbria with my husband and son. I love nothing more than a cup of tea, preferably with a slice of cake and a good old chat with family and friends. I am a massive fan of the arts, theatre and dance in particular and have been known to get a bit crafty from time to time. With a strong background in events of all different kinds, I am equipped with

a wealth of knowledge and ideas to bring to your ceremony. I specialise in weddings, vow renewal and naming ceremonies but am always open to something different and unique. When my husband and I tied the knot in 2013, we had a registrar come to our licenced venue in Northumberland. We didn’t get to meet our registrar beforehand, our vows were from a tick box system and our actual ceremony lasted around 9 short minutes. It was absolutely lovely but I couldn’t help feel that it was a little impersonal and not very ‘us’. No-one had been on hand to inspire us into creating something truly wonderful and magical. The ceremony is the whole point of the day, it should be the focus, it should be beautiful and it shouldn’t be rushed.

*a celebrant doesn't conduct the 'legal' aspect of a wedding - this is done at the registry office at an earlier / later time of your choosing.

Monday Introductions...

Hello to all you lovely new followers and existing ones too. Your support for my little business is always so appreciated and I love interacting with you all so much.

So, I thought I'd tell you some little fun facts about me...

I'm a Northumbrian girl living in (very) rural Cumbria with my husband (Matt) and our two (soon to be 3!!!) children, Rory & Imogen.

We decided to home educate our children so our home constantly vibrates with noise. It's a challenge in more ways than one but I wouldn't have it any other way (wish me luck when we introduce a newborn into the mix 😳)

Tulips are my favourite flower, green is my favourite colour and my favourite place to be is right here at home with my family.

I am a terrible baker, but can make a mean banana bread (and I was the champion of this waaaaay before banana bread lockdown).

I'm a fully blown Vegetarian, that sways to Veganism a little - choc and cheese are my kryptonite!

I had a few jobs until I found my love of love...including working in hospitality, retail and event management. I even sold photocopiers (only one!!) for about 3 weeks. Hated every one of them 🤣

When I was little, I used to want to be a sheep 🐑

So, that's a little about me...probably not very interesting but here's to Monday, here's to a new week and most of all, here's to love ❤️

These guys. That weather!!!

I've had the most beautiful time getting to know and work with this lovely couple over the last few months and I've been looking forward to their wedding for so long.

It finally came around on Saturday and it was every bit as wonderful as they are. A small gathering of family and friends nestled by the side of Lake Windermere, the sun was just glorious but it didn't manage to outshine their love.

A couple of beautiful readings, a unison through the tying of hands and a hilarious story about cuppa soups and Ainsley Harriet (swipe for dads reaction to this 🤣!!!). All made for a gorgeous ceremony.

They then headed out onto the terrace for drinks in the sun and later, for a sunset cruise up the lake where they did their speeches.

Just amazing! Wendy, Kevin, thanks so much for letting me be a part of your wonderful day ❤️

This weather is glorious isn't it? I'm feeling all the springness and so thought I'd throw it back to this absolutely amazing couples wedding day last year.

Jenna and Chris were the dream. They did things entirely their way, not afraid to shake up timescales and switch up the 'traditional' order of the day.

The woodland was filled with magic on this day in May and it was every inch the honour to be a part of such love ❤️

✨ Vows ✨

Have you thought about whether you'd write vows to one another? Often the thought of this is the overwhelming part, but when you break it down and really think about what you'd like to say, it becomes easier.

When you're having a bespoke ceremony, it's always an extra layer of love to write and speak your own vows but there are several ways of doing this depending on what you'd prefer.

❤️ Some couples like to write their vows and keep them a secret from one another.

❤️ Some people like to work on something together. Whether this is the same words repeated to one another or shared where you read alternate lines.

❤️ Other lovers like to write a letter to one another which they exchange during their ceremony but read privately at a later date, maybe their first anniversary or while they're on their honeymoon.

❤️ And some people don't like to do vows at all. And guess what...that is perfectly fine. After all, it's your day, your ceremony and your love you are celebrating. Vows aren't for everyone.

Elope.

After a morning of magical eloping, my heart is so full. So, I'm throwing it back to this gorgeous day in 2020.

So what is an elopement? Well essentially, it's you. You two and wherever you choose to marry. Hills, mountains, lakes, beaches. With just you and your celebrant (and ideally an amazing photographer to capture it all) you can celebrate your love with no rules and no pressure.

In England you still have to complete the legal parts at the registry office but really, that is no obstacle. Most of my couples do this a couple of days before, or even on the morning of their wedding. And by choosing to elope with a celebrant you get scenes like this, emotion like this, LOVE like this.

It's raw. It's intimate. And it is so incredibly special. A magic like feeling, just you two ❤️

Well! It may have been postponed (a few) times and scaled back in gigantic proportions but this wedding was GLORIOUS and this couple were so resilient to everything that came at them!

I'm talking bright festive decor, love potions for all and a handful of Scots ready to party their pants off!

Craig and Amy's spirit was in abundance on their wedding day and even the mega wind and sideways rain during their ceremony, couldn't stop the smiles and the laughter and the determination for an outdoor ceremony (I nearly got blown away, but hey...when it's this magnificent, who cares!)

Outdoor ceremonies in all weathers...yes please!

Absolutely loved seeing these pics and working alongside these fab folks too..

Back in September, Charlie & Denis tied the knot with some very special friends and family.

Their chosen people brought up a ribbon symbolising all sorts of traits that Charlie and Denis want to bring forth to their marriage.

Charlie made their cords with threads of ribbon she had at home, creating something really beautiful and unique.

This was only one moment in their ceremony...a beautiful moment amongst so much love and happiness!

❤️ I'd love to relive this ceremony, it was magic and more ❤️
