We're pleased to announce there are 3 Coffee Mornings still going ahead over the summer break. They are:

Sat 29th Aug: Bradninch Football Club U7s
Sat 5 Sep: Bradninch Fireworks Group

Good morning, Bradninch!

We put the feelers out several times for people to run coffee mornings over the summer, but alas there has been no uptake.

Coffee mornings will therefore take a break now until September.

BUT ... If anybody wants to step in and run one on any given Saturday morning between now and September, you are very welcome to and — as previously stated — we will only charge half price for the hall (£17). So even without running a raffle, that's not a huge amount of servings needed to break even! :) We will also be happy to advertise if and when a Coffee Morning takes place over these summer weeks.

☕ Summer Coffee Mornings & Half-Price Hall Hire! ☀️

With the school summer holidays fast approaching, we know everyone’s schedules get a bit hectic and holiday plans take over.
Because it can be harder to guarantee a crowd during the summer break, we’re offering the Guildhall at HALF PRICE on Saturday mornings from 4th July to 5th September. If you'd like to host a low-cost, low-risk summer Coffee Morning, we’d love to hear from you!

Any recommendations for oven service / repair in Bradninch?

Finally, and with the good weather in place we are beginning repairs to The Guildhall.

Thanks to a most generous bequest from Averil Snell we are spending nearly £50,000 on maintenance of the building. This work will include replacing the flat roofs, removing, lining and replacing the coping stones around the top edge and rendering the external walls behind the parapet. This should stop water coming in.

After the walls are fully dry, we will repair the internal plasterwork and decorate.

Whilst the scaffolding is up we will wash the front of the building to remove the algae which makes it look so shabby and we’ll also use the opportunity to inspect the windows, test the render and inspect the cracks which have appeared because of the water getting into the wall, to see what needs to be done to prevent further deterioration.

We hope that the users and neighbours of the building will bear with us whilst this work is being done. Mike is liaising with the contractors to help them understand when a bit of quiet would be helpful, but inevitably there will be some noise and dust.

We have recently said goodbye to Piers Kotting who has left the board to concentrate on family matters. Piers led Trustees for the best part of a year and consolidated our Strategic Plan which is available to view on our website, www.bradninchtt.org.uk. Thanks for all your work Piers, your energy will be missed. Trustees have been joined, some months ago now, by Katy Mackenzie and Rosie Walker.

The last 9 months have seen many more good community events happening in The Guildhall, which now has a licence for alcohol sales. If you are thinking of organising something, please get in touch with Mike Clarke our Development Officer who will be glad to talk things through with you. ([email protected])

A question for you, Bradninch people. Over the summer holidays Coffee Mornings understandably have fewer organisers … many people are away, so it’s less of a surefire fundraiser for groups and charities.

So …

Should we take a break for 6 weeks? Or should we try to find people to run some simple ‘light’ Coffee Mornings (i.e. no raffle, no fundraising: just serving tea, coffee and biscuits)? Is there a desire for that, and if there is, might you be able to run one?
