Harry Houdini was the world’s most famous magician and escapologist.
It”s astonishing that 100 years after his death on 31st October 1926 his is still a household name.
Houdini appeared in Hull six times between 1903 and 1920 at the Palace Theatre on Anlaby Road.
Hull Magicians’ Circle are commemorating Houdini’s Centenary Anniversary on Wednesday and Thursday, 28th and 29th October. It’s in school half-term holiday and there are two FREE town centre attractions -

“Astonishing” a Houdini themed show with magic, juggling and wonder on stage and close-up.
1pm to 2.30pm

The Great Escape!
The 100 foot Rope Tie Challenge

Young Hull magician Will Frow will attempt to emulate Houdini by trying to escape from 100 feet of strong braided 1/2 inch thick rope in a time faster than he can be fastened up with it.
A FREE outside attraction!

Adjacent to Victoria Pier and The Minerva Pub, Nelson Street, Hull

This location is next to where in 1914 Harry Handcuff Houdini jumped chained and manacled into the Humber. The Hull Daily Mail reported that his escape was watched by 8,000 spectators.
