We were really looking forward to welcoming Vanessa Forero to the mill. She is a fine singer-songwriter with a remarkable back story. Vanessa was due to travel up from Brighton to play. However, due to very low ticket sales we came to the mutual decision not to go ahead.

We do try and avoid cancelling shows – live shows are often the main source of income for the artists and our policy is always to try and go ahead – even if the venue makes a loss. However, there are also wider considerations and asking musicians to make a long journey to play to an empty room makes little sense.

Grassroots live music is facing a number of challenges at the moment. Audience numbers seem lower across the board and this has an impact for venue and artist alike. Your continued support is increasingly important.

This evening we welcome Den Miller. Den is an engaging and entertaining live performer, delivering his music and his message with clarity, energy and a good deal of humour. During his performances you can expect songs “from wildly comic to deeply poignant”, backed by guitar, keyboard, harmonica, autoharp and, often, the audience. “An experience not to be missed.”

Tomorrow evening at the mill we have the funk infused The Mel Outsider Reformation. Vive Le Rock Magazine describe their latest album, Mel Goes Funky, as "a very suave and nuanced record. You'll totally Dig it Baby!"

Support comes from the intriguingly named singer songwriter Teaspoon.

Live at the mill this Saturday 12 September are The Mel Outsider Reformation. They'll be playing songs from their latest critically acclaimed, funk infused album 'Mel Goes Funky".

The East Lancs rock n roll runaway Mel Outsider returns to the mill on Saturday 12 September. Mel and his seven piece band will be playing songs from their funk infused new album ‘Mel Goes Funky’ which follows the critically acclaimed debut ‘Miss Victory V’ in 2022. Vive Le Rock Magazine describe Mel Goes Funky as a very suave and nuanced record. You'll totally Dig it Baby!" Meanwhile Pete Feenstra, says Mel Goes Funky “recalls a time when music was fun. It’s lyrically beguiling, grooves, sparkles, amuses, rocks hard and puts the ‘F’ in funk!”

Should be a fun night.
