BrassNeck Theatre THE BAND
Lighting design is all about emotion. Sometimes that means subtle storytelling and sometimes it means turning the stage into a full-scale pop concert.
Recently we had the pleasure of designing, supplying and operating the lighting for Brassneck Theatreโs production of The Band: the Take That musical blending theatrical narrative with arena style concert energy.
The rig was chosen and built around versatility, punch and atmosphere by Peter Hargreaves and included;
GLP FR10 Bars
Used heavily for dynamic stage architecture, beam chases and bold concert looks. Their flexibility allowed us to frame scenes cinematically one moment, then explode into high energy pop visuals the next.
Martin MAC Quantum Spots & Washes
The workhorses of the rig. Quantums delivered powerful aerials, special moments and textured gobos while the washes gave us saturated palettes and the emotional depth needed for the more intimate storytelling moments.
Robe 150 LED Beams
Small fixtures with huge impact. These added sharp, energetic beam work and fast movement, helping create that authentic stadium concert feel throughout the big musical numbers.
Ayrton Diablos
used primarily as side light and chosen for their incredible output and precision with an ability to cut through the haze effortlessly, giving us crisp shuttering and a powerful look.
Showtec Pixelbar 12s
Used for low level scenic integration, pixel effects and adding layers of movement and colour throughout the stage picture. These helped tie the entire visual language together.
All programmed and operated on a Hog4 FullBoar.
One of the things we loved most about this production was finding the balance between theatre and live music ensuring the lighting didnโt just look impressive, but actively supported the emotional journey of the show.
Huge thanks to everyone involved in making it happen.
