⁠We’ve followed Rural Kind for some time and love his beautiful behind the scenes storytelling about how their pieces are made. It’ll be fantastic to see the craftsmanship up close and appreciate the tactile quality of those durable materials and thoughtful designs.⁠

⁠Amber’s jewellery really stands out. We love her clever use of reclaimed materials and the strong, sculptural shapes she creates. It’ll be exciting to get a feel for the scale and detail of the pieces in real life.⁠

We hadn’t come across Justyna’s work before, so it was great to learn more about her. You can really see the skill and time that goes into her hand-printed textiles and wallpapers, and we’re looking forward to seeing the work in person at the festival.⁠

⁠What we love most about Llio’s work is how deeply it’s tied to her roots in rural Wales. Her woven textiles carry a strong sense of place and tradition, while still feeling fresh and contemporary. We’re really looking forward to seeing the fabrics in person and hearing more about her journey. ⁠

The UK Government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. 📲

Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

Novus + QEST + Craft Festival Wales are working together to champion the craft sector as a route into employment for prison learners.⁠
⁠
As part of this exciting partnership with Novus learners from HMP Berwyn and HMP Parc are creating original work with QEST scholars including Addicted to Patterns from Bridgend inspired by Welsh folklore. ⁠
⁠
The learners are producing artifacts and written work, all with a focus on hand-made processes which will be proudly exhibited in The Kitchen at Craft Festival Wales at Cardigan Castle from September 5th to 7th and continuing until September 21st. ⁠
⁠
Working across Art and English classes, learners are responding to a live brief - building skills, confidence, and community connection through craft.⁠

To celebrate Craft Festival Wales returning to Cardigan, I'm releasing a new season of podcast. ⁠

To kick things off I had a great conversation with Head of the National Wool Museum, Ann Whittall. ⁠
⁠
We spoke about the historic importance of wool to West Wales and new projects at the National Museum,. Ann is spearheading training new apprentices who are learning to work with the magnificent looms at the impressive Weave Shed in Drefach Felindre. We also discussed Musuem's work in the decolonisation of the Collection and working with visual artist, Lucille Junkere. ⁠

The National Museum is supporting Craft Festival Wales and will be running free workshops for children throughout the weekend.⁠

Craft Festival Town Trail + Oriel Myrddin ⁠

To celebrate the relaunch of Oriel Myrddin and its opening exhibition GWRACH | WITCH Clive Hicks-Jenkins, A Fairy Tale Retold, we have partnered once again with Oriel Myrddin to present the Craft Festival Town Trail. ⁠
⁠
This year’s trail takes inspiration from myth, the Tylwyth Teg and the rich landscape of Welsh folklore. The featured artists responded to Wales’s rich tradition of storytelling and folklore, creating new work that reflects a shared sense of wonder, memory and connection, each in their own way, drawing on the enduring power of storytelling. ⁠

The Craft Town Trail will run from From September 5-October 5th and 6 venues across Cardigan. ⁠
