Wight Lines is the South coast's premier Hip-Hop themed running event, for all the running MCs & DJs. It's cooler than a cucumber in a bowler hat 🎧🎤🖭📾

Join us on a rap-tastic, mainly flat (40ft elevation/lap), coastal route along the promenade & cliff tops @ Milford-On-Sea, Hampshire on 🅂🆄🄽🅳🄰🆈 25.10.26, with fabulous views of the Isle of Wight, The Needles & Sturt Pond Nature Reserve. There's a 'Hip n Hop' start time between 8am-9.30am on an 'out and back' route along the coast, offering participants the opportunity to choose their own distance, from 5𝙆 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙧𝙖-𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙣. ᯓ🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️👟🏅🎧

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹! 𝗪𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝘁 - 𝟭𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸. 𐦂𖨆𐀪𖠋𐀪

We ran a Facebook campaign a few weeks ago around our 𝘙𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 post asking followers to like, share & follow & in return we'd be put names in a hat and draw out a lucky name. The 'winner' will receive a complimentary event place & a Long Player Running technical T shirt. 👚ᯓ🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️

Here's Dawn Mann, who's joined us at several events so far, often with her running buddies from Verwood Runners, & it's always a pleasure to see them. Dawn's a frequent & long-standing runner, with 40 years experience. She had an 'interesting' time @ the 'brutiful' Something To Talk About a few weeks ago, with a few trips, but used her experience & got through - impressive.

Tips-wise, fuel early (extremely sensible advice for the non-eating runners yet t hit the wall!) & go at a sensible pace. Kit tips - bone conductor to bang out the tunes & the good old GPS watch.

Dawn's also training for Malta Marathon (this is on the to-do list @ LPR towers!) & TCS London Marathon marathons in 2027, where she's fundraising for a very good cause, the Anthony Nolan Trust. Intergalactic is mission 2 of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵*, which takes place over Easter weekend 2027 in Hurn Forest, Dorset. Last year's event was out of this world & we're looking forward to doing it all again. 🚀🪐🌕🌑☄️🛸

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰 (Saturday 27.03.27) is a Beastie Boys/Space-themed trip along the forest trails & is suitable for all abilities with a flexible launch window between 8-9:30am. There is an 7-hour cut-off, so your mission will be complete by 3pm latest. Intrepid participants can rocket & shuttle on a 5K lap & choose their distance on the day - from 5K to Ultra-marathon.

There will also be an area @ race HQ to leave your own items to avoid any kit or fuel-related anxiety. Space-themed snacks & refreshments will be available at the 𝙍𝙪𝙣𝘿𝙈𝘾 (aid) station, alongside the usual selection of sweet & savoury snacks & hydration options.

Over Easter weekend 2027, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵* comprises 2 space-themed running events, set in the stunning Hurn Forest, Dorset.

Mission one, on Friday 26th March is Space Oddity ⚡︎; a David Bowie-themed journey along the forest trails, suitable for all abilities with a flexible blast-off between 8-9:30am. There is an 7-hour cut-off, so your mission will be complete by 3pm latest . Participants can rocket & shuttle on a 5K lap & choose their distance on the day - from 5K to Ultra-marathon.

𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘! 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 is coming in March 2027 (Easter weekend) & will be our first ever 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵!

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 comprises 2 special missions:

🪐 Space Oddity ⚡︎ - Friday 26th March
👾 Intergalactic - Saturday 27th March

Both are timed, lapped events with a 7-hour cut off where runners choose their distance on the day: from 5K to ultra-marathon. Both will have a flexible launch window from 8-9:30am, but get in touch if you require any additional flexibility.

Intrepid troopers 👨‍🚀 will run a 5K (3.3 mile) out & back course on the trails of Hurn Forest, with an elevation gain of just 56 feet 🐻🪵🏹, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 represents the perfect challenge to start off the Easter weekend & you can enter an individual event or take on both missions & get £10 off! 🚀🪐🌕🌑☄️🛸

We'll provide a cool medal (the Intergalactic robot returns!), 2 out-of-this-world playlists, space-themed snacks & drinks at the Run DMC (aid) station, cosmic marshals & all the support everyone needs to achieve their goal. We'll be using the cricket club facilities to drop any bags, get a cuppa, use the loos or even have a shower ❤️‍🔥⚡🚀

Long Player Running

Say hello to this week's runner in focus John Calvert, who ran with us @ Something To Talk About a couple of weeks ago. What a pleasure it was to meet him too & to hear that it he'd had a very good day indeed & had covered more ground than he had in a very long time ✔✔✔

He'd never admit it, but John's an absolute inspiration. He began running a decade ago despite an MS diagnosis in 2002 & despite the ups & downs has stuck with it since, with a list of achievements he can be seriously proud of. Proof that running is somewhat of a super power - he is sure it's helped with his MS, given him a bit of head space AND helped him forge some important friendships. 𐦂𖨆𐀪𖠋𐀪𐀪

John's running story is one big 'top tip' in itself, but getting out on the trails and just keeping moving, whatever the pace, is as simple as it is true. Invaluable. 👍🏻🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Interestingly, John's love of the trails is combined with a keen interest in sci-fi, so we wonder how he'll resist our first double event, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, which combines new-y Space Oddity ⚡︎ & firm favourite Intergalactic (yep, the robot medal returns)!!! 🚀🪐🌕🌑☄️🛸

Hopefully we'll see John soon & in the meantime, may the course be with you!
