Huge congratulations to the teams at Bournemouth University (BU) and University Hospitals Dorset (UHD), who were recently awarded with a 'Research Team Impact Prize' by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) 🎉

The prize was awarded for the team's CHAIN (Community Cycling Against Hip Pain) programme, which has been delivered by our health and wellbeing team and the BH Live Active, Littledown in Bournemouth since its launch in 2013 💙

It's been a privilege to deliver the CHAIN programme in partnership with our local health partners, which has seen participants develop confidence, motivation, and skills during the initiative and beyond.

Our team at BH Live Active, Queen's Park recently celebrated a year of helping more people get active with EGYM! 🎉

Our investment has helped hundreds of local people across Bournemouth be more active, with customers logging more than 13,800 training days since we launched the fitness facility in September last year.

Since launch, we've onboarded more than 1,300 members onto the EGYM system, with over 12,500 user interactions recorded across the facility.

Data from the first year highlights the positive impact the facility is having on people's health and wellbeing, with members using the exercise equipment to build strength, improve their fitness, and support their long-term health goals 💙

The venue has been recognised with a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award 2026, placing The Terrace Bistro among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide based on customer reviews and ratings 🥳🎉

The award follows another successful summer season for The Terrace Bistro and South Terrace, which welcomed tens of thousands of visitors throughout the warmer months. It's a fantastic reflection of our team's hard work, passion, and commitment to delivering great experiences for every customer 👏

The Terrace Bistro does more than serve great food and drink! Surplus income generated by the venue is reinvested into BH Live, helping to fund opportunities for people across Dorset and Hampshire to improve their health and wellbeing through access to facilities, activities, and community programmes 💙

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our Open House Festival at Fairfield Halls last Saturday 💙🎉

Our fantastic team worked non-stop to deliver a fantastic programme of events, including venue tours, technical workshops, and even a drama class.

It was also fantastic to host concerts from resident orchestra, London Mozart Players, plus a theatrical exhibition from Talawa Presents for its 40th anniversary 🎭🎵

We loved sharing Fairfield Halls' fascinating history with visitors, showcasing how the venue continues to play a central role in Croydon's year-round cultural events programme.

Football has the power to bring people together, but few stories demonstrate that more powerfully than this ⚽🧡

As part of Organ Donation Week, ITV News Meridian visited BH Live Active, Littledown to hear the remarkable story of walking football teammates John and Paul.

Following the sudden loss of his son, James, Paul and his wife made the selfless decision to donate his organs. One of James’s kidneys was donated to John, Paul’s lifelong friend, who was experiencing kidney failure.

Thanks to that life-changing gift, John made a full recovery and continues to take part in weekly walking football sessions at Littledown. In total, James’s organ donations went on to help 14 people across the UK, transforming and saving lives.

The story reflects the positive impact sport and community activities can have in bringing people together, supporting wellbeing, and creating lasting connections.

Last month, Littledown also hosted a walking football charity match in support of Kidney Care UK, raising more than £3,000 to help support people affected by kidney disease.

As a registered charity and social enterprise, BH Live reinvests surplus income back into its facilities, services, and programmes, helping create more opportunities for people to be active and improve their health and wellbeing 💙

One Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre visitor's lifelong love of theatre is helping preserve the venue's history for future generations 💙

Nigel, from Weymouth, has generously donated an incredible collection of around 1,000 theatre programmes to Bournemouth Pavilion's archive, spanning every decade since the 1960s.

For more than 60 years, Nigel carefully kept programmes from the shows he attended, creating a unique snapshot of the venue's rich entertainment history. Now, his collection will become part of the Pavilion's archive, helping future generations discover and celebrate the theatre's past ✨

As Bournemouth Pavilion looks ahead to its centenary in 2029, we're asking our community to help us tell the full story of this much-loved venue.

Whether you're trying the gym for the first time, returning to exercise after a break, or looking for a new way to stay active, we're inviting residents across Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth to discover the facilities available at their local BH Live Active leisure centre with a FREE gym or swim session 💪💦

National Fitness Day is the UK's largest celebration of health and physical activity. Created by Ukactive, this year's theme, Powered By You, recognises the important role that individuals, communities, schools, businesses and healthcare organisations all play in building a more active nation.

As a registered charity, BH Live is committed to improving health and wellbeing across the communities we serve. By helping people become more active, we aim to make a positive difference to physical, mental and social wellbeing ✨
