It never ceases to amaze me the things I get asked to make for bespoke funeral pieces.. a 3ft Toblerone was a special request this week … I always say yes and then think later 🤔
It would have been too easy to just do the whole thing as a boxed chocolate bar …but who ever has an unopened Toblerone? Not me.. and I did eat one purely for research purposes… so an opened bar it was , complete with chocolate triangles showing through the wrapper, even nuts and “ nougat” ( actually some crunched up wooden beads but it did the trick 😊
And it’s not often I get to make a cross nowadays but this one looked stunning with its white orchids and ferns trailing over the edge.. a funeral heavy week but lightened by the beautiful wedding of Rebecca and Joe which I have been working on from weds through till today of which I will post pics of next week to give them chance to post first ..as always thankyou for the work and support , it means a lot 🙏🏻

A soft pastel kind of a week for my weddings and funerals … a trip to Mottram Hall for the wedding of Sarah and Luke .. Sarah carried an informal bouquet of pale pinks and whites with a touch of thistle to link to the Scottish connection of her family … tradition calls for the brides father to wear a different colour buttonhole to the rest of the party which I didn’t know so I’ve learned something this week .. then on to the wedding of Alison and Tom at the crown in Worthington which was a lovely intimate family and close friends sort of a wedding which I was lucky enough to attend as Alison is my stepsister and though our parents that were together have passed we still keep that connection going … a wired teardrop bouquet was her choice and it was a pleasure to create it for her … as always there were the sad occasions which take no less precedence … I am always grateful for the trust 🙏🏻 working on an unusual piece next week and then on to the wedding of Rebecca which will partly be in the beautiful Smithills hall chapel ,I went to do some measuring up this week and as always I’m blown away by the age and history of this wonderful gem we have on our doorstep .. Thankyou again for the support and choosing me for your important occasions … very blessed 🙏🏻

An incredibly busy week with some very emotional events … shades of yellows and purples to mirror the garden colours that Jack sadly never got to enjoy, a red and white football to remember the last football game watched together with his sister.. .. thoughts as always are with this lovely family… a bright yellow wreath chosen with love by Olive for her cherished husband who was a market Gardener in his day and loved chrysanthemums ..then on to the wedding of Martin and Julie at the Hawthorns… second time around for them both proving you never know what’s around the corner … Martins dad and my dad were lifelong best friends so I feel both would have been smiling down on this lovely day 😊 congratulations to you both for every continued happiness together… one photo that I took in the back of my van sums up how my days are filled with life’s occasions … wedding flowers on one side … a cross on the other …I thought it was quite poignant and a reminder to seize the day and enjoy life to the full 🙏🏻 if you read this far on my flower ramble .. I thank you 🙏🏻

A request for “ tumbling” dominoes with orange spots ( or pips ) which gave a nod to Blackpool football club combining two sport interests .. with a bright arrangement to match… carrying on the bright summer flower theme for Norah .. leaving her beloved farm and home by horse drawn hearse for her final journey … a wonderful lady who instilled a deep love of animals in her family enabling her daughters to run a riding school beloved of so many , the second funeral for this lovely family this year so I was humbled to be asked again to create the flowers… hoping their next occasion will be a happy one 🙏🏻 Thankyou again for keeping me busy , always appreciated 🌸

A request for something with purple in it this week … that was the only brief… so I went tropical and a little bit different .. the purple vanda orchids are just stunning and blend so well with birds of paradise .. a bit of lime green to make it pop … thoughts are with Vicky’s family … a few birthday flowers and an arrangement for the open day at Howe bridge crematorium with the lovely and empathetic Alison Reagan ( celebrant) to decorate her display stand … Thankyou again for the support , always appreciated x

A few photos of the wonderfully historic Hoghton Tower in the great hall.. the stags head above the table where King James 1 sat and knighted the beef in 1617( Sirloin) is huge … it must have been a magnificent beast in life ! A springy green and white set up for last weekends wedding event with beech trees to give a bit of height .
A rugby ball made for a fan of the game , made in different textures to give a bit of interest as it’s hard to make an oval brown ball look “ something” … then a picture of me and “ Stormsy” who was fantastic at giving cuddles while I was out delivering .. made my day 😊
Thankyou again for the custom this week , always appreciated 🙏🏻

Hope everyone is enjoying this fabulous weather … not the best for flowers so I have been keeping stock limited and buying daily , sticking to tropicals as they withstand the heat better .. unlike me 😳 I’m wilting by the end of the day 😂 but joking apart , it just makes you feel better to see and feel the sun on your face , Hoping it lasts over the next bank holiday weekend . Busy weekend for me as I’m up at Hoghton Tower today for the wedding fair ( 11am-2pm) where I will be chatting to couples who are planning their wedding there and advising all things floral … enjoy your Sunday however you choose to spend it and Thankyou for your custom again this week , always appreciated 🙏🏻

This week has been a continuation on the blue and white theme but this time to create flowers for a treasured wife, mum, sister and daughter .. stocks , roses, freesia, with delphinium, oxypetalum and baby blue fern to soften the overall look…sincere condolences to her family…
At the other end of the scale , a new baby boy to celebrate using the same colours which reminds us of this grand circle that we call life , always endings but new beginnings too 🙏🏻
Enjoy your week and Thankyou for the custom .. it’s always a privilege to be chosen 😊

So nice to get back to doing a wedding this weekend … Louise wanted blues , whites in a simple country style with a smaller version for her bridesmaid and a tiny one for the two year old flower girl … buttonholes to complement with the groom wearing a “ white cloud” rose…. Congratulations to you both and Thankyou for choosing me to do your flowers 🙏🏻
A spring arrangement in yellows and blues, quite poignant colours as they were the colours I used for for this gentleman’s daughters wedding many years ago , but I could still remember what I used and incorporated some varieties into the funeral flowers … I always think that is the element that cannot be bought … knowing your customers and remembering when it really matters … I feel very blessed to have families that come back for all the important life events .. thankyou 🙏🏻

A short but incredibly busy week , I made a scaled down version of my swan design , Easter arrangements , remembrance arrangements , full coffin sprays in spring colours and bwfc colours … a salon reception display for sophieparkinsonhair ( gorgeous little salon in Westhoughton with super talented Sophie at the helm) an arrangement to grace a kitchen island and so many other items , blown away by the support this week 🙏🏻 wishing you all a happy Easter … inbox any orders for weds onwards so I can pre order as there will be no flower auction on Monday which will impact on availability at the beginning of the week .. closed Easter Monday and Tuesday .. happy Easter … eat the chocolate … life is too short to worry about a few calories 😊
