Planning Takes Twice as Long as You Think When I decided to launch my first Cheeki Monkeys market, I thought I could plan everything in a couple of weeks. Turns out… there’s a lot more to think about than I imagined! From stallholder bookings to floor plans to making sure there’s enough tea and biscuits — every detail matters. The lesson? Start early and give yourself grace when things take longer.

Running Cheeki Monkeys has taught me a lot — but one lesson stands out:

People come for the bargains, but they stay for the community. 💛

When I first started, I thought it was all about buying and selling. But over time, I’ve realised the magic happens in the conversations, the laughter, the kids making friends while parents chat over a cuppa, and the connections between stallholders. It’s more than just a market — it’s a space where people feel welcome, seen, and part of something bigger.
