'ello you lovely lot!
I'm currently capacity building for a peer support network in Greater Lincolnshire (Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire Council areas) and Blackpool for people who live with HIV. I'd love to hear from any of my PHLWHIV friends who have been a peer navigator or support worker and have some idea of what's actually going to be involved. I need to capitalise on being kind of okay with my current mental health and get all productive, innit?! Drop me a line... [email protected]
We have a model operation to utilise to ensure the basics are met. This material and training will come from those directly involved in delivery, including health trusts and local & national charities and other third sector organisations, we just need people with lived experience to help deliver defined project outcomes.
Our goal is to deliver to both regions by the end of the summer.
Seed funding comes from adding a collective voice to various bodies and charities as lived experience in relation to living with HIV so some extra free time would definitely help contribute to that. We'll be reimbursed minimum wage for time with all other funds directed to technology and equipment until we can fund more substantially and appropriately.
I'd also love to hear from folks who have put in proposals to bodies such as Robert Carr Foundation and Elton John AIDS Foundation, or more generically the National Lottery.
Please take a moment to share amongst your own communities because more voices provided means better outcomes for people who live with HIV, from diagnosis through to healthy old age.
What we build together will be used as a template for other areas of England, moving into the other devolved nations and Crown Dependencies. Much of what we use has been practiced in multiple London trusts for a number of years, and proven successful in areas where HIV patient numbers are higher.
