It is with very heavy hearts and great sadness that we have to announce our Prince of the promenade- Ephraim Bell, sadly left us in the early hours of Friday 2nd October .

It was unexpected, as he was due to be discharged to come home, and was looking forward to being back on the prom with his little dog ‘blondie’.

We know how much everyone loves him and are so very grateful for all of the kindness, care, patience, good company and support he has received from so many of you over the years, but especially most recently.

We want to say a huge thank you to those of you who have been there for him and who have taken the time to care for him and come and sit with him and share stories.

As we all know, he really LOVED life. The good, the bad, and the ugly! He clung on to it with sheer determination and the strongest will to live- a big inspiration to us all. Thankfully In the end, he passed peacefully- sun tan and full head of hair intact- and is now resting with his beloved wife Margaret who he has missed so much over the past 6 years.

We will share more details of his final farewell soon, but please save the date: 30th October 2026.

The bid team brings together Blackpool’s major cultural organisations, independent creatives, Blackpool Council, key businesses and tourism bodies.
