Sunday 30th August — round two of the Bank Holiday Festival 2026. Same course, same cold ales, same sunset. New line-up.

Sunday is Family Day, so whatever your age, there's something to do.

Come and meet our resident Junior Coach, Alan. Get advice on joining the current Junior groups, sharpen up your skills, and have a go at the competition.

The Bank Holiday Festival 2026 opens its gates on Saturday 29th August — live music, cold ales and the best view in Lancashire as the sun goes down over the course. A fun day packed with entertainment from afternoon until late.

⛳ GREENS UPDATE — THATCH REMOVAL & SANDING ⛳

You may have spotted our greenkeeping team hard at work yesterday. Here's what was going on and why it matters. 👇
Ian and the team have been removing thatch and sanding the greens — one of the most important jobs in the greenkeeping calendar.

Thatch is the layer of organic matter that builds up at the surface. Left alone, it holds water, softens the surface and makes greens slow and inconsistent. Taking it out and topping up with sand does four big things:
💨 Gets air down into the root zone, so the grass grows stronger and healthier
💧 Improves drainage, meaning less standing water and better greens through the wetter months
🎯 Firms up the surface, so greens hold a well-struck shot the way they should
🟢 Creates a smoother, truer roll for your putting

Greens may look and play a little rough for a short while — that's completely normal. Bear with us: the reward is better, firmer, faster surfaces for the rest of the season and beyond. 🙌

🏆 REVIDGE CANNON 2026 🏆

Sunday 16th August saw the Revidge Cannon return to Blackburn Golf Club — and so did last year's champion!

🥇 WINNER: Kristian Taylor (Formby GC) — 140

Kristian came back to Blackburn and did exactly what he set out to do, retaining the title he won in 2025 with a superb score of 140. Champion two years running — a brilliant achievement. 👏

🏅 NETT PRIZE: Club Captain Stuart Green — 161-18-143

A fantastic day for our Captain, who led from the front to take the nett prize on the day. Well played, Skipper! 💪

Huge congratulations to Kristian and Stuart, and thank you to everyone who played and to all involved in running the day. See you next year! ⛳
