It’s a proper dolly mixture of weather here today. Beautiful warm sunshine followed by a cold wind and diagonal rain. Blossom confetti is flying past my kitchen window where the birds have been gathering the many cobwebs. I have retreated indoors to admire my ‘Sideboard of Many Blooms’! The teetering amaryllis is on its last legs, but the stocks smell deliciously sweet and clovey. I’ve been potting on lots of pelargoniums, and I’m looking forward to more wonky beauties that I will be using as inspiration for my paper flower workshops later this year. The sun’s out again so I’m back to the garden 🪏 🪏🪏🪏🪏🌷😎

Sunshine, chaffinches, bees and blossom, daffodils and primroses. What a glorious day it’s turning out to be 🌞 The new garden is a shambles, so I’m happy to be taking my time with plans for the future. In the meanwhile, I’m working on new paper flower projects. These have been a work in progress! I dyed the paper last year, and have just finished my nasturtium prototype, ready for another workshop in early June and I’m pretty pleased with the finished article. Westhope College and Art School is a wonderful haven of creativity, home made food and people who love making stuff and learning new skills. Paper flower craft has a long tradition in many countries, and was known as ‘parlour art’ by the Victorians. Women spending time together, making beautiful flowers to decorate their home. Some things never change do they? For further details, head to Westhope website, or give them a call.

I’m delighted to be working, once again, with the lovely people at Westhope College and Art School. Nestled in the Shropshire hills, just outside Ludlow, Westhope is a Heritage Craft paradise. They offer an ever changing selection of quality workshops with a residential option. The food is home made and always delicious, and the grounds are sublime. Do book a workshop if you’re in need of some joyful craft therapy. A couple of spaces have become available on my paper fritillary workshop next Thursday. Book directly with the college. Next up are nasturtiums 🧡💛♥️

Windowsill of dreams with years of dirt, cobwebs and decay for added character and authenticity. Leave it or clean it? Our new home has been neglected for several years and this does have some (actually just a few) benefits. What would you do?

SPREADING JOY 💚 Last of the flowers from my allotment this year couldn’t have gone to a more worthy commission. Farewell flowers for a much loved father, made into two arrangements for the service yesterday, and then taken to the wake for everyone to enjoy. Today, the flowers are heading to a care home, bringing a little more joy! Thanks to wildbunchflowers and for more seasonal beauties

Dead heading and tidying up one of the neglected raised beds at the bottom of the garden when I was stopped in my tracks by this colour palette. I just love it when this happens. Unexpected loveliness that I will be using for inspiration..Koko loco rose that is decidedly pinker than usual this year, plus Nicotiana langsdorffii plus possibly Tip Top Pink Blush nasturtium. Also feeling Tip Top!

Life has been pretty complicated of late, so this weekend has been a tonic for the mind and heart. Beautiful flowers on Saturday for a lovely couple at a favourite woodland venue. Sunday brought pizza in Hebden Bridge followed by Kruangbin at the Piece Hall in Halifax .. such a treat.. sublime sounds in a majestic setting. Blue skies and balmy weather were just the ticket. Even a train cancellation didn’t spoil things. Feeling tiptop 🤩
