There’s always someone who has to ask.

At first, you’re watching their face as the Ferris wheel begins to rise. Then you look out.

Below you, the Market Place glows with Christmas lights. The people grow smaller, the town opens up around you, and someone beside you points: “That’s where we were!”

Familiar places look a little more magical from up here. You sit together, taking it all in, before heading back down to wander beneath the lights. 🎄

The official Bishop Auckland's Christmas Town 2026 brochure has landed! 🎄✨

Get ready for four festive days in Bishop Auckland Market Place, from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December. Enjoy the Christmas market, fairground rides, street entertainment and live music in the tipis from Friday to Sunday.

General entry is free. Golden Passes start at £5 and give you unlimited rides and attractions on your chosen day, plus entry to the tipis and 10% off drinks at every Christmas Town bar. Santa’s Grotto can be booked separately.

As we near the end of September, October is just days away, and the countdown to Bishop Auckland's Christmas Town is on! ✨

Before long, Bishop Auckland will be filled with festive sights, tasty treats and Christmas entertainment. Make a day of it, enjoy unlimited use of the attractions with your Golden Pass, then give the little ones a special moment meeting Santa in his Grotto. 🎄
