WOW… what a weekend! 🙌

We kicked things off on Friday with Street Food Carousel in Aycliffe, and what a night it was! The town centre was packed, the atmosphere was brilliant, and it was great to see everyone having such a good time.

Then on Saturday, we headed to Church Square for our first ever Street Food Carousel in Hartlepool. Thank you to everyone who joined us. It was lovely seeing so many people enjoying the food and free mini golf. 🍔

And in the middle of it all, Bishop Auckland's Christmas Town launched! 🎄A limited number of Early Bird tickets are available, saving you around 30%. Take a look at all the ticket options and book yours here: https://baccanalia.co.uk/bishop-aucklands-christmas-town/

The fun doesn’t stop there…

📍 This Friday, Street Food Carousel returns to Bishop Auckland Market Place from 4pm until 9pm, with great entertainment and plenty of food choices.

🎪 Then on Saturday, you’ll find us at Priory Green for Byker Community Trust's Family Fun Day! If you’re local, get yourself along. There’ll be bubbles, circus skills and plenty more happening throughout the day.

What a start to August!

Bishop Auckland is still in the race to see if we are through to final bidding for Town of Culture 2028.

Today, alongside towns from across the UK, we're celebrating the launch of the official UK Town of Culture digital map by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

As part of our bid, we've created a digital postcard that captures the creativity, heritage and community spirit that makes Bishop Auckland such a special place.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our bid so far. Whatever the outcome, we're incredibly proud to be representing Bishop Auckland on the national stage.

What a day. ❤️

Yesterday's Bishop Auckland Pride 2026 was everything we hoped it would be and more.

As a small team, events like this take months of planning, preparation and hard work behind the scenes. From the first ideas and meetings through to event day, a huge amount of effort goes into creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone who attends.

That's why seeing so many people come together to celebrate, support one another and enjoy the day meant so much to us.

The atmosphere was incredible. From the live performances and family activities to the conversations, laughter and community spirit, Bishop Auckland showed exactly what makes this town so special.

We would like to thank our supporters, Bishop Auckland Town Council, Hiyed CIC and Bishop Auckland College, whose support helped make the event possible. Thank you also to our performers, traders and event staff who played such an important role throughout the day.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended. Every person who came along helped create the welcoming, positive and inclusive atmosphere that made the day such a success.

We are incredibly proud of what was achieved by a small team with a big vision, and we're already looking forward to what comes next.

Thank you for being part of it. 💜
