At home party or venue party? 🎉

I’ve done a mix of both lately, and they each have their own feel.

At home parties can be really lovely and personal—children are naturally more relaxed in their own space, which is so nice to see.

It does mean they tend to explore a bit more, popping in and out of rooms or finding their favourite toys…
(and occasionally I’ll discover a rogue dinosaur underfoot mid-party 🦖😂)

And of course, we always have to keep one eye on the British weather… I recently had a party planned for a beautiful garden that ended up moving into the conservatory ☔️
We made it work (I always do!) but it definitely changes the space a little.

Venues, on the other hand, tend to keep everything in one place, which makes it easier to keep the party flowing and all the children engaged together.

They can feel a little less cosy at times - but they do make things run really smoothly.

✨ My honest take?
If you’re after something easy and structured, venues are a great choice.
If you love a more relaxed, home-from-home feel, at home parties can be really special too.

It felt so good to be back celebrating this weekend at Freddy’s 5th birthday party. The room was full of energy, laughter and plenty of organised chaos!

The kids’ favourite moment was definitely the toilet paper cannon game… safe to say the room didn’t stay tidy for long 😂 (Don’t worry — I had the kids clean it all up again in less than a minute!)

I’ve hosted hundreds of children’s parties…
but at my son’s last birthday, I experienced one from the other side.

Half an hour to set up.
Balloons popping.
Birthday child zooming around at full adrenaline.
Helpers asking, “What do you want me to do?”
Me smiling externally… internally wondering how time moves this fast 😅

And it hit me.

Parents don’t just run parties.
They carry the mental load before the first guest even walks through the door.

The stress peaks before it starts.

I wrote something honest about what being the “party parent” taught me — and the simple things I wish every parent knew in advance.

Hey guys, long time no see 💛
It’s Nicky Noodles here, slowly rebuilding my little business after what feels like an eternity away.

This time last year I was six months pregnant and winding things down ready for maternity leave. It honestly feels like a lifetime ago… and in some ways it was — my baby’s entire lifetime 🥹

I can barely remember what life looked like before her now, but here I am feeling excited (and a little nervous!) to be reopening and hosting parties again.

Having a new baby has brought so much joy, perspective, and a much-needed pause… but I’ve really missed the magic of parties — the happy, smiling, silly faces of kids who just want to have the best day ever.

And just because I’ve been off work doesn’t mean I’ve switched my party brain off — I’ve been quietly planning new ideas and learned so much from being the parent (not the entertainer!) at my son’s 6th birthday, which I can’t wait to share with you.

It's been a while since I've posted on my work page so I figured I better give an update.
The reason I've been so quiet is because I've been busy on maternity leave and welcoming a new baby noodle to the world!
